Using raised embellishments

Another newbie question  I've started using embellishments like brads and 3-D things. But that makes my pages all bumpy. For example, the round bump created by a brad sticks out and pushes against the other pages. Over time, won't this cause a dent in the surrounding pages? How do I deal with this?

The problem you describe is exactly the reason I've never used 3-d embellishments. I've looked through the scrapbooks at my lss and have never seen a page with this type of embellishment that didn't cause eventual damage to the facing page, even with sheet protectors. Perhaps it is the type of book/page that is used, I don't know. If anyone has the answer to this, I'd love to hear it.

I am not sure what they are called........but there is some kind of filler that you can buy to put between the pages in the spine to keep them from being right next to each other. I haven't used them only seen people at LSS putting them between their pages.

So far I've been arranging things on 2 page LOs so that the "bumps" offset each other & don't "hit" a photo on the opposite page. But I have to say that the process if rapidly becoming a pain in the neck!

hmmm.... I can't say I have this problem and I have about 15 scrapbooks. The only thing I can think is that your LSS doesn't store the books upright or fills the book beyond capacity. With lumpy pages if the album get too bulky I stop adding pages. Otherwise, it pages start pressing against each other. Lumpy pages will fill an album faster... HOpefully, I am making sense. AT my LSS, their album so full you can't even hold it very well.

I was extremely resistant to lumpy thing due to this issue. Especially wire. But now I use what ever strikes my fancy. I am still not a fan for wire. But...here is my take on it.
If you are scrapping lumpy you must then make sure to always store your books upright. Not flat.
Also I use small white washers I buy at home depo. If my pages are supper lumpy I put washers on each post about every 3 pages. This prevents the book from flaring and creates a balance.
I also make sure the lumpy stuff doesn't touch the other stuff.

Exactly... books should always be store upright anyway.
