I KNOW a lot of people thing using points to pay for the Disney Cruise is foolish.....But I am going to ask this anyway! I remember in the past you could pay for the cruise with part points and part cash. How does that work? Is that still an option? If I have 2 adults and 2 kids....who has to use points? Just wondering! We have used all points on the cruise before and DID NOT regret it at all. We felt like we took the cruise for $75! I just see it as what we wanted to do with our points that year. Thanks for any info.:earsgirl:

We have done two Magic cruises on points/cash. We choose two staterooms for our family of five so remember first two people regardless of ages or how you list them with reservation (one needs to be adult listed anyway -18) will be paying adult prices.

Our first cruise we paid four people on points and one (youngest) with cash plus $75.

Second cruise (we did not want to use all those points again). Two rooms, first adult in each room with points, second adult with cash and again our youngest with cash also.

We are now booked for our third Cruise ('05 CA) and we booked two adults cash in one room through DCL and one stateroom three people through MS with points.

You need to have I believe at least one person with points and the rest points/cash to book through MS plus $75.

We have also paid for a cruise in cash and points. We had two connecting rooms and paid for the first adult in each room in points. All the rest in cash. The cash price we received through DVC was pretty good too. It was actually lower than DCL at the time but a bit higher than a travel agency had. We enjoyed the trip.

I think using points for a cruise can be lots of fun if that's what you want to do with your points. It all depends on your situation and what makes you happy. Have fun.

We did the 4 day Wonder in June & used points for DS, age 7 & cash for DD, age 17, DH & myself. MS gave me a cheaper price (for the 3 of us) than DCL ( I even figured in the points for DS @ $10.00 a point I would have gotten for renting) & it felt like DS was free!
I'd consider doing it the same way again.
