Long time DISER and Disney info expert for my family and co –workers but I am stumped!

My co-worker lives Credit Card Free and uses her Debit Card Only. Great for her! She is paying with her Disney trip on her Debit Card, but asked if she could make her dining reservations without using the Debit Card. Of course I explained to her that some reservations required a Credit or Debit Card on file if for some reason you do not make your reservation. She does not feel comfortable having someone being able to charge her Debit Card (Don’t worry, I already had the conversation with her about the card on file at her resort) After all this she asked me….

Can I just use my Prepaid Visa to make dining reservations with $100-200 on it?

I said great question, but I am not sure. Let me ask my fellow DISERS!

Can anyone tell me their firsthand experience or if this will work?

Yes, you can use the loaded visa card.

I would not use a debit card attached to a checking account. I had a charge once for something and had to go through a lot of trouble to find out what the charge was for. Had to close the card. So would not use anything attached to a checking account.

But a prepaid visa/mastercard works.

Great thank you! I never thought about using a prepaid VISA for reservations. I agree with the debit card. Thanks again!

I dont use prepaid visa cards. If you used up the card between the time you made the appointment and your actual ADR, wouldn't you technically not have an available card on file? Is a prepaid visa card like the visa gift cards you buy at the store?

Yes, they have prepaid Visa gift cards in all denominations.

We have one that we leave an open balance on. In other words, don't use or spend--just keep on file for travelling. For instance you can have one from the store for $200 and if you want that one on file for your restaurant reservations you can keep that on file.

They also accepted it at the front desk for incidentals.

When I was ready to use the card, I just presented it at check out and said I have $ on it. And they ran it for that amount.
