Hmmmmm - isn't Disboards social media that we're sharing right now?! I kinda like sharing Disney tidbits, updates, dos and don'ts.......!
People really need to learn to keep their opinions to themselves when it comes to that kind of stuff, especially rude opinions. I’ve never gotten rude comments bringing kids to Disney though.I clicked on this thread, not expecting it to be about Vloggers.
About 6 years ago, our son and his family lived in Orlando and we would stay at Disney when we visited and treat them to meals at the resorts or downtown Disney.
We came down to meet our new grandson and the CM who checked us in told us we were welcome to invite our son and his little family to come visit at the resort and use the pools with us.
She gave us a keycard for them to access the parking and pool area.
Over the course of 6 months, we stayed at Contemporary, GF and Beach Club (Beach club was quiet pool only for our guests) each with the same experience.
I am guessing the whole vlogger world has changed Disney's policies on allowing family to visit.
An aside story, when people see a 5-week-old infant sitting with his grammy under the umbrella at a Disney resort, lots of opinions are shared from strangers about taking an infant to Disney!
I always find it funny that people on here (not on this thread specifically) say that they don't use social media and I'm like? You're posting on one right now....?Hmmmmm - isn't Disboards social media that we're sharing right now?! I kinda like sharing Disney tidbits, updates, dos and don'ts.......!
Yea and everyone having nearly instant access to a camera and video recorded doesn’t really help much either. It is free advertising for Disney and they even offer them promos and free stuff. Hell epic universe let them in first pretty much to get easy PR. So they want them to come. Now this I see eye to eye with you on. Direct cause of the degradation of society. However that’s also kind of the issue. People are very brazen these days and if someone pays a higher fee to stay at a certain hotel they should be able to use the pool without outsiders who have not paid taking chairs and space. If wristbands are the only way to do it then so be it. It’s one of those things in life that just “get ruined” and then things “change for good because we have to”. It stinks it has to be like this but it IS getting worse all the time as people in general just don’t care anymore. The entitlement is off the charts. This goes for so many other things in life that are not about pools. Pools are a microcosm. But at least something can be done that’s not OVERLY intrusive. Wait a minute or two…scan in…get a bracelet. Done.
As for the vloggers I wish there was a way to grandfather in some of the originals and say no more. How can Disney control it though…I walk around with a camera recording sometimes. I’m not a vlogger. Are they going to detain me and check to see if I have a YouTube channel? No. That problem with vloggers is going to be almost impossible to control. Not to mention Disney secretly/not so secretly endorses this behavior as free advertising.
Yep it is, guess we part of the problem lolHmmmmm - isn't Disboards social media that we're sharing right now?! I kinda like sharing Disney tidbits, updates, dos and don'ts.......!
Who constantly watch these vbloggers. Like I will watch them here and there but they post so many videos and thousands of people watch the videos. This is why we can’t have nice things! I personally like to visit other resorts to eat and maybe have a drink. And Disney is obviously making a lot of money off of people eating at the resorts. It doesn’t make sense to restrict reasonable access to non-resort guests. I think if the vloggers didn’t exist, these issues wouldn’t exist. Would there be a few pool crashers? Yes, but not the point it really affected everyone else.
Nobody likes to be nickel and dimed, but imagine is they started charging for parking at Disney Springs or charging off-site guests for use of Disney transportation? There would be outrage and people would say Disney was ruining the “magic.” Yet those are the same people taking advantage of how things are now.
My first child was born when we lived in Orlando. I used Disney parks for exercise (and a few slow rides with her) 1-2 times per week for a few years (I wish I had been insightful enough to write a blog or make a FB page or the like). We also had a pass to Sea World. We started going when she was about three weeks old. I never received any unwelcome comments, but this was also 20 years ago; she’s now 26. I’m sorry you’ve been a victim of some truly boorish people!I clicked on this thread, not expecting it to be about Vloggers.

I mean where else do you think all these apparent hoards of people are coming from to use the grand Floridian pool?If people parking at Disney Springs and riding the bus to parks or resorts is that big of an issue, simple solution. Charge for parking at Disney Springs and offer a generous validation program. Submit a receipt from a Disney Springs vendor that day to have your parking refunded. If you're just using the free parking and buses, you pay for it.
Wow - the only reaction we'd have to grammy sitting with a 5-wk-old at Disney would be what a beautiful site and a beautiful memory for grammy - as it's meant to be shared.......An aside story, when people see a 5-week-old infant sitting with his grammy under the umbrella at a Disney resort, lots of opinions are shared from strangers about taking an infant to Disney!

Yea I never had anyone make comments to me personally bringing a young infant to Disney, but I know it is something that could happen. The comments were how cute they are and stuff like that.Wow - the only reaction we'd have to grammy sitting with a 5-wk-old at Disney would be what a beautiful site and a beautiful memory for grammy - as it's meant to be shared.......
You do realize how long the trek is for them to go from all-star music to the grand is? Plus they have to bring swimwear and all of that on the journey. It’s just not something I think is as big of a situation as put out for people staying at Disney hotels who all have decently theme pools. Now people staying off property or locals don’t have access to any themed pool like at Disney or get the free water park perk.As I said earlier, the Disney bubble is interlinked with free continuous transportation. They could be coming from anywhere, including other Disney resorts like All-Star Music.
This may not discourage everyone but it will prevent large groups of people easy access. It would be very hard to sneak in a group of ten without bands if they are required. Selling on Facebook may work but not if they are unsure of the color of the day!! People who are spending over ten thousand dollars for a hotel stay should reap the benefits, such as upgraded pools. And then every single day everyone will need to be issued new wrist bands. And then people lose wrist bands. Oh and then people can start selling wrist bands on Facebook sites…….
Everything has its own drawbacks
They could just make arrangements for the bands day of.This may not discourage everyone but it will prevent large groups of people easy access. Sorry but I have to disagree. In our twenty five plus years of travel to WDW we have seen exactly what you describe. People trekking from one resort to another to enjoy a pool. What makes the scenario worse is the fact that the people don't swim for an hour and leave, they camp out for the day!! I have people that stay at a local "Super 8" type chain that sneak into our hotel because we offer a free breakfast. I can't count how many times I have had to ask them to leave and they scream at me as if I'm the person doing something wrong. We live in a world where people feel entitled....Its a shame. I'm tired of people making excusing, there are none. Follow the rules and if you have to have a slide for your little one, pay the price! You do realize how long the trek is for them to go from all-star music to the grand is? That’s an important point because if they are going for just the water slide…..can’t they just go on their first day to the water park or even better do a split stay and go to the water park on the first day of the split stay instead of hiking to the grand Floridian for a water slide not as good as at the water parks. People staying off property or locals don’t get that free perk
