Using pools if not a guest

Disney can easily ban them from their parks if they want to just like they can ban the unofficial tour guides from their parks and people from selling products and services in their parks. They chose not to do so though

repeated and wanton disrespect of Disney's rules should equate to a ban from property like it did the third party tour guides, agreed.

This is great news because we love Poly but avoid it because it is always so crowded. The lounge space should be reserved for guests staying at the resort. I have worked at a Hilton property for over twenty five years. I only work one day a week(love the travel benefits) but you would be surprised at the number of people who sneak in off the street to use our amenities. Whether it be the exercise room, pool, laundry room, or the free lousy breakfast. I'm behind the desk but spend a lot of time on patrol. It's aggravating! During summer we have to hire two additional people for extra eyes. This only raises room rates for everyone. I'm surprised at how entitled people feel. What a lesson to teach their children. Like everyone, we spend a lot of money to enjoy Disney. We carefully choose our resort and enjoy our off days as much as park days. I'm shocked at the amount of people that complain because their pool does not have a slide and that's why they "hop" over. I'm not putting down value resorts, there are a couple we really enjoy, but if you want a slide, pay the price! Issue all guests an arm band at check in. When they go to the bar to place an order, ask to see their band, if they don't have one they aren't served. If a person lines up for the slide, no band, they leave the line. Yes it's a pain and should not be necessary but it is!
you want Disney to turn down money people are about to spend on over priced alcoholic beverages? That is the time Disney is least likely to turn them down as it’s exactly what Disney wants!

The lounge space is only desirable for approximately 15-30 minutes a day during fireworks.

The Walt disney world model wants to keep people in the bubble as long as possible, that is why the model is the way it is.

Like you said their parking garages are massive and those resort buses run all day long continuously to and from every resort on Disney property. That place probably prints more money than the popcorn stands at the Magic Kingdom.
Parking is free at Disney springs. Which place prints money exactly? All of Disney prints money, if it doesn’t then they close it down

Yeah having every guest get a wristband at check-in would solve the problem. I know that since COVID especially a lot of guests go straight to their rooms since their magic bands are already activated, maybe they can get theirs at the pool gates or the front desk as desired. But every guest needs to be issued a wristband for their resort. It's as simple as that.
And then every single day everyone will need to be issued new wrist bands. And then people lose wrist bands. Oh and then people can start selling wrist bands on Facebook sites…….
Everything has its own drawbacks

Well that explains why we haven’t experienced it as much as you, we don’t go to casino resorts lol. But I do remember going to the hard rock and the pool being locked down extremely tight, but I believe you can buy a pool day pass to it so they were actively making money off ensuring no other guests can enter. Plus like you mentioned if they at the pool they can’t be losing money gambling.

I think the fact that casinos all offer parking, most of the time free, is the issue and I think the Disney spring buses are another huge issue. Otherwise getting to the actual pools as a non-guest is very difficult or at least not free except for Disney springs.

I remember during Christmas time when I was at the grand Floridian the bus line was insane every single night and went way past the ramp, until I realized everyone was there for the Disney springs bus, and barely anyone maybe less than 2-3% of the other people needed any other bus. It was also awkward trying to get to the front since we were waiting on a different bus!

Disney springs is the issue
They really need to start charging for parking there.

They've done it this way for years at stormalong bay, it really isn't a big deal.
Stormalong bay is in a very unique position that the other Disney resorts are not so much in. First off it’s literally right next to the swaphin complex which is massive and also it’s right there on the walkway so they all pass it. It’s also a very unique pool but having the swalphin so close is likely the main reason. The other resorts don’t have such a massive third party hotel next to them where people can easily get too. Plus anyone can park (and pay) to go into the Marriott parking lot

I don’t know the answer to the problem, but you’ve hit the nail on the head with it being a sense of entitlement. I’ve been reading on other social media sites people arguing about whether or not they should be able to have one member of their party save a spot in the ride lines and everyone else join them at the last minute. I was shocked at the amount of people who think it’s okay.

If one person has a bathroom emergency and needs to get out of line? Fine. I have no problem with that scenario. But holding spots and five more people join you right as you get up to the ride?? Absolutely not. But it seems many people have the attitude that they’re paying a lot of money to go to Disney and they should be able to do whatever they want. Same with pools. If I was staying at a value and it doesn’t have a slide…too bad? My kids would still have fun swimming. Kids learn from the adults around them and grow up thinking this kind of behavior is acceptable.

Social media is one of the worst things to happen to civilized society.

Saratoga Springs is walking distance from the massive (and free) Disney Springs parking garages. Thousands pass Riviera every day on the skyliner. Thousands pass Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian every day on monorail. And every other resort is linked to the others by free Disney transportation.

Social media is one of the worst things to happen to civilized society.

If people had to pay even just $1 to make a post on social media, the world would be such a better place.

In an ideal world, people not staying at a resort would not even be allowed to use the bar, and maybe at Disney there are some situations where this should be the case. But I am more focused on places like the atrium room at beach club, or the voyagers lounge at riviera or all the nooks and crannies at resorts like grand Floridian or wilderness lodge. Why should a vlogger be able to set up shop and work in these spaces? This is outrageous to me. And the big problem at this point is that it is not one vlogger, but hundreds if not thousands at this point. We were at beach club and couldn’t find a place to sit anywhere— I mean anywhere- while we waited for our room. This didn’t used to be like this ten years ago. We’ve been going to Disney for almost 30 years, and we go frequently. I’ve been going since I was a child in the 1980s, and I have seen the progressive use of resorts by people who are simply not staying there. At a minimum there should be signs on certain resort spaces that say for resort guest use only, but I love the idea of armbands to even be in the resort. Disney also has an obligation to start enforcing things like this because there are other owners to these resorts by way of dvc.

I’m not sure what point you are making by stating that people pass by those hotels on a skyliner vehicle or on a monorail. What is your point again and how does this help it?

You said stormalong bay is unique because there are huge resorts nearby that people can walk to. My point is all Disney resorts are interconnected and in a bubble so that's not really unique to Stormalong Bay. All are victims of "pool crashers"

I clicked on this thread, not expecting it to be about Vloggers.

About 6 years ago, our son and his family lived in Orlando and we would stay at Disney when we visited and treat them to meals at the resorts or downtown Disney.

We came down to meet our new grandson and the CM who checked us in told us we were welcome to invite our son and his little family to come visit at the resort and use the pools with us.
She gave us a keycard for them to access the parking and pool area.

Over the course of 6 months, we stayed at Contemporary, GF and Beach Club (Beach club was quiet pool only for our guests) each with the same experience.

I am guessing the whole vlogger world has changed Disney's policies on allowing family to visit.

An aside story, when people see a 5-week-old infant sitting with his grammy under the umbrella at a Disney resort, lots of opinions are shared from strangers about taking an infant to Disney!

You think only guests should be able to drink at bars at resorts? How is Disney going to sit there a police all the nooks and crannies to make sure it’s only guests staying at the resort?

Hey, I would rather not be able to find a place to sit at Disney than not be able to find a place to sit outside Disney /s/

Armbands to even be on the resort, oh like a magic band………….

You think the DVC owners at the contemporary, poly, and grand, will like to be told they can’t go to any of the other two properties during their trip. That should go over well……….

Disney encourages guests staying at other resorts to visit the different resorts on their trip….

Now this I see eye to eye with you on. Direct cause of the degradation of society. However that’s also kind of the issue. People are very brazen these days and if someone pays a higher fee to stay at a certain hotel they should be able to use the pool without outsiders who have not paid taking chairs and space. If wristbands are the only way to do it then so be it. It’s one of those things in life that just “get ruined” and then things “change for good because we have to”. It stinks it has to be like this but it IS getting worse all the time as people in general just don’t care anymore. The entitlement is off the charts. This goes for so many other things in life that are not about pools. Pools are a microcosm. But at least something can be done that’s not OVERLY intrusive. Wait a minute or two…scan in…get a bracelet. Done.

As for the vloggers I wish there was a way to grandfather in some of the originals and say no more. How can Disney control it though…I walk around with a camera recording sometimes. I’m not a vlogger. Are they going to detain me and check to see if I have a YouTube channel? No. That problem with vloggers is going to be almost impossible to control. Not to mention Disney secretly/not so secretly endorses this behavior as free advertising.

But there are a huge differences between my example and yours. Plus is anyone complaining of over crowding at the contemporary and riveria? They are at the grand Floridian, wonder if that is also because of the poly people walking over, especially at the new tower.
It’s unique to stormalong bay because of what’s directly next to it and it’s uniquiness
