Hi - I don't own yet - although DH and I had a long (good) talk this weekend, and it seems that I've gotten HIM thinking about DVC as well. (Before, every time I mentioned it, he wasn't interested at all.)

Anyway, I was wondering if there is any website or info out there about what hotel chains are available to use the DVC points? I know it's a big waste of points, but it'd be a bigger "plus" for DH if we can use it for trips away from WDW as well...

Have you looked here yet?

If you're referring to The World Passport Collection (aka Interval Internation exchanges), it isn't really "a big waste of points". You get a week in a 1BR timeshare for 160 points in most circumstances. That's a pretty good value compared to DVC 1BR accomodations.

Yes, I have... The hotels they listed are awesome, and I'd definitely like to visit them at some point - but I was thinking more along the lines of using points to visit South Bend, IN, Williamsburg, VA, or some non-destination town in the middle of PA. Are points also good at places like Hilton, Holiday Inn, or La Quinta?

This will give you a good listing (although not all-inclusive) of II resorts that you can stay at with your future DVC points:

. . . and the answer to your question about Hilton, Holiday Inn and such chains is no (unless you find them in the II exchanges, which I doubt). Sorry.

Oooh! That was exactly what I was looking for, thanks! I meant to add the Marriott hotels, but forgot. That's sweet! And I see they have a place in South Bend - and Beaver Creek - those might be the turning point for DH!!

(I was thinking about some of the "lesser" chains, so that if I had extra points left over, I could donate them to a group that I belong to that travels a lot - but we usually go to smaller towns than what's listed.)
