Using points for the cruise - is it really that great?

gscott is absolutely correct. What matters is getting on that ship with your family and/or friends and having a great time! I think it all depends on the time of year your travelling and the situation you're in as to whether you use cash or points. Next time I think I'm going for the points, picking a lower season and taking the kids out of school for a few days! It's just a great experience. Enjoy!

I would agree with DCL-Fan. I always value our points between $5-$6/pt cash out of pocket + allowance for lost investment income. I wouldn't rent the points out anyway, so the $10/pt. calculation is meaningless to me.

We just came back from a 3 night cruise (2 adults, 1 child) for 316 points. Well worth it in our estimation
