We are thinking about tryng some of the propertes in Hawaii, especially on Maui and the Big Island. If you have stayed at any of these properties please comment :cool1: .

We stayed at Kona Coast II resort. It was a nice resort with lovely HUGE balconies. It is on a golf course, and you can't go down to the ocean side until after the course closes (unless you want to risk getting beaned by a golf ball), but the rocky coast is full of blow holes and is lots of fun. We were able to get several discounted tours by taking their timeshare presentation. We were able to say "no" quickly, but their new property had some nice units.

We stayed at the Mauni Lani in July 2004, we loved it. We are planning to go back in july 2007--but i think we are probably going to rent points for this stay and pay cash.

We have stayed at the Marriott Maui Beach Club, very nice hotel, great pool that over looks the beach. You can walk to a stip mall 2 levels w/ a McD's and several restaurants. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

We also styaedat the 4 seasons on Maui and walked around the Grand Wailea, it looked huge--it seemed that alot of their rooms were oceanview. there pool area looked awesome.
But we really loved the beach at the Mauni Lani better than Wailea in Maui. At Mauna Lani we saw so many turtles while we snorkled at the beach. The Mauni Lani also really seemed to pamper you while you were there--they made their beach chairs so comfortable. they also walked around several times per day with cool towels and frozen grapes to keep you comfortable on the beach. Also you got 1 hours use of snorkel equipment daily.
The Wailea area had more shopping in the area than the ML did. The Big Island's Volcano park was eally neat--we plan to stay at least 1 night there when we go back. It is a full day trip from ML and we want to see the lava flow at night.
The road to Hana on Maui is a fun trip also. Beautiful, a little nerve racking with the curves and one lane bridges--the people who live around there really drive fast.

They are bothe beautiful islands and you would have fun at either place.

We traded for Maui (Embassy Vacation Resort) in June '05. It was nice, but I wish we could have gotten the Marriott. How did you manage that, Tarman? I need details on when you requested, when your trip was, and did you have multiple choices or just go for the Marriott. We'd love to stay there on our next trip. We even considered buying there, but decided to add on at VWL instead!

Stayed for two nights in September 2004. Very nice yet expensive accommodations point wise (48 pts? per night). Very large rooms, small refrig, no microwave. Staff, landscaping and beach were wonderful. Will require a whole day for an auto trip over to Volcano Nat'l Park (opposite side of island). Would recommend a helicopter tour over the volcanoes.

We also did seven nights at the Marriott Ko Olina (Oahu). This exchange for a studio only required 123 points. Since the two nights at the Mauna Lani took 90 something points, I would sell the points and either pay cash or find something a little less expensive.

Just wanted to subscribe to this thread! Thanks!

Of all these Hawaii hotels mentioned or any others available to DVC members, do they have children's activities as well? We'd like to go to Hawaii next year and will have our five year old daughter with us as well. Could someone please let me know what activities are available for children in Hawaii at the DVC hotels or any other that you might know of. Thanks.

I own at Cliffs Club. You can trade via II. I would trade my week for DVC points at a rate lower at would you could trade thru II. Great place, Ocean view lots of room. (2bd).

the web site for the Mauna Lani Resort is www.maunalani.com they may go into detail what is involved in their kids program. Our DS didn't participate, he was 15 while we were there. Sorry I don't have more info for you. it is truly a beautiful place.
I do remember that we booked the Mauna lani Experience with our points and it was a nice savings over what their points were on our charts. This also included breakfast for 2 daily and a couples massage. They have at times had specials that were listed in our Vacation Magic.
