Hi All,

I am buying a digital camera to take to Disney. It is a very good deal, brand new Kodak easy share and it's only been used once, and $30.

Can anyone give us tips on how to make use of this? I mean taking great pics without the use of MagicMaker.

Thanks!!!

Making the most out of your new camera is all about remembering you have it. This may seem obvious, but there are times i get to the end of a Disney day and realize i only took 3 pictures. There are so many locations through the park to get some great individual and family shots as well as scenery. Remember that the Photo pass photographers will take pictures with your camera as well. i have gotten some great shots from them over the years.

Remember you can never take to many pictures! You can never get that moment back and if it takes 20 shots to get the one you like, no one has to see the 19 others it took to get you there.

Buy extra SIM cards. You don't want to be taking a picture only to find out you don't have room and have to find a picture to delete.

Don't comb through your pictures and delete ones that "look bad" based on the view finder on your camera. Often times I will get the photo on the larger computer screen and it looks fine. Ones that are obviously bad are okay to make room.

Try not to use the digital zoom. It's better to move closer to the focus if you have maxed out your lens. All digital zoom does is digitally zoom into the picture making it pixilated.

I find the best shots of kids are candid shots. Hard to get them to stop (unless it's a character) and take a good picture. Usually they just want to go go go! I like the pictures I have of my daughter just taking in the world or her riding on her Dad's shoulders.

I find I take a lot more pictures when my camera is out. Might sound pretty silly but when you go on a ride you pack away the camera. Then after the ride you forget the camera is packed so you just leave it where it is. Finding a way to carry it comfortably where you can always have it ready to go is important.

Also don't forget to charge that battery every night! Might be worth looking into buying a spare just in case!

I have never heard of a digital camera that takes a SIM card...they are typically only used in cell phones which. SIM cards do not add storage capacity to any device.

I personally would recommend extra SD cards (make sure it is the right size for you camera)...which is what I am sure is what you were actually referring to. Just wanted to clear that up.

Yes SD card is what I meant, sorry for the mix up.

one other thing, don't count on an inexpensive digital camera for taking decent low-light pics. so it should be great outdoors in the daylight, but indoors and night-time will be a challenge. if it has a flash, it's probably only good for 10-15 feet away.

Not sure if this is exactly what you mean or not, but one thing I like to do is take a bunch of scenery shots. I have a digital frame in my living room that I use exclusively for Disney photos. I love to have it going and see shots of my friends and family at Disney intermingled with great pictures of the Castle, the sign for a favorite attraction, a snack we love, etc...I have some great pictures in World Showcase that really make me happy when they come on.
