Using other resorts' facilities

This might be a dumb question, but I have to ask. I know that for certain things (pool hopping comes to mind) it is very taboo to use another hotel's facilities, which makes sense. However, I was wondering if for the electric water pageant, is it ok to go to one of the MK resorts to see it? I never have, but from what I understand you can only see it from these resorts. So, would I be a bad DISer if I was staying at pop century, but sat on the beach at the poly to check it out? This is also assuming that they still have the water pageant that I believe took place in the lake that connects poly, fort wilderness, gf and maybe other hotels too. I'm hoping my memory isn't faulty. Just curious about this! Thanks!

Shouldn't be a problem. The EWP does still run, Check allearsnet.com for the times at the various resorts. But, while this is cute, I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. Of course if you are already there for some other reason (dinner?) then by all means wait for it.

I have seen signs at the Polynesian that the beach is for the exclusive use of the guests of that resort. Similar sign to what you see at the pools. I would imagine that the other resorts would have similar signage. However, if you have to pay to use the facility (such as a restaurant), you should be able to do that.

You might possibly watch the EWP from the boat dock at TTC or Polynesian.

This is where my issues come out. I tell people all the time to watch it from the area around the monorail including the beach from the poly. Disney wants you to walk around their grounds so that you may decide to stay there in the future. If they didn't want you to do that they would make sure that you couldn't make it out there but they haven't. Now I understand the pool hopping issue but this is different. The parade is a free show. If your in the poly eating you would be able to see it but you can't walk out and watch it from the beach? Please, it's dumb. You can walk around and buy things from the stores but you can't go out to the beach to watch a free parade if it happens to be around that time. I have watched this show from the beach area (never on a swing or hammock) and I was usually sitting out there 10 minutes eating a snack I just bought in one of their shops after buying one or two other trinkets. I've never seen a huge group of people much less anyone complaining that they couldn't watch the parade. If this was the case, trust me I wouldn't be eating or purchasing anything from the Poly. I say enjoy from where ever you want, chances are that your going to purchase something from whereever you go before you watch it anyway and if others want to flame, flame away.

I just wanted to add that my neighbor called CRO a few weeks ago to make their reservations for the POFQ for fourth of July, and while on the phone the CM suggested that they visit the Poly beach to watch the fireworks as well as the EWP. This was not in response to a question. It was their suggestion all the way.

I have watched part of the parade from the dock at the TTC. I do want to see the whole thing sometime. That said, although I don't stay at the Polynesian, I do typically eat several meals at their restaurants (with PS), purchase pins, etc. at the gift shops, so I would not hesitate to watch the parade. I would probably ask my waiter where I should go to see the parade and follow that advice.

I really believe that Disney wants us to visit the resorts and take in their unique beauty. When we do, we tend to eat in their restaurants and spend our money. I know from our last trip we will at some time stay at WL. It has a look we liked and I feel Disney invited me to visit with the flower pin pursuit. Excellent marketing guys!

So as a Disney guest, you should feel comfortable watching the parade.

Be sure and let your neighbor know if they do want to view the Fireworks on the 4th from the Polynesian, they will need a Priority Seating for a restaurant and they go quickly.

This is one day they do enforce the rules for guests or those with PS only. Even CM's can't come over unless they are scheduled to work. They were turning away many people at the gate and they had signs posted explaining the holiday policy and where towing cars.

The sad thing is CRO is just mindless to what really goes at the resorts and parks. Many have never even been. In fact when they get really busy a service answers calls for them and they are not even Disney.

O'Hanas is a wonderful place to eat on the 4th.

Yecats I understand what you are saying but there are signs that say the beach is for the exclusive use of Polynesian resort guests. I believe the signs are there because there are some times where the beach is so packed that the resort guests cannot enjoy their own beach. I always stay at the Poly and fortunately haven't had any crowd issues at the beach but that is because I go during slow times. I would hope that non resort guests would not use the hammocks or swings as they are far and few between and I think that is rude, especially when one is not paying to stay at that resort.

I agree Sammie. I personally have never even been to the Poly, nor would I consider watching the fireworks from this location since I feel that it is really a space for the Poly resort guests.

My neighbor mentioned what CRO said because we got into a discussion about their special 4th of July plans when I saw them in their driveway. She did say that they probably would be in the park that night anyhow. I just think that CRO ought to be informed about the resort rules and given training to answer questions accurately.

The Electrical Water Pageant has a stop over at the MK during the times of the year that the MK has extended park hours.

I believe the signs on the beach are indicated for people to not USE the beach if not registered guests. Stopping and watching Wishes or EWP while visiting the POLY is not using the beach.

We had PS at Ohana in Feb and after a wonderful dinner made our way to the beach and sat on a chair to watch Wishes. The beach was not PACKED there were many open swings and hammocks. Many people stopped on the sidewalk to watch and it was just a beautiful show. I don't know why I forgot about EWP (probably b/c I'd driven 10 hrs that day.. LOL) but go and enjoy it.

My God, if you want to visit the Poly beach, go for it. You don't need approval from anyone on these boards.
