Using On Board Credit to Pay for Photos?

I had received an OBC for booking our cruise through a travel agent, and had planned to use this toward the digital photo package on board. However a social media page that I belong to for our cruise says you can't do that, as the photos are rang up totally separate. Can you confirm if this is true? Thanks!

Photos and photo packages purchased on the ship are charged to your onboard account, just as every other onboard purchase is. So, any credits on your onboard accout can be used to pay for a photo package purchased onboard.

I think that if you purchase a photo package in advance of the cruise, you need to pay immediately, so you wouldn't be able to use an onboard credit. That could be the source of the confusion.

If you buy photo packages ahead of time, then you have to pay for them up front (and the "unlimited pic package" is 15% off if you buy ahead of time) but if you buy on board (either unlimited pic package, 10- or 20-pic package, or individual pics, etc.) the purchase will just be applied to your account, so your OBC can be applied there.

I actually tried to pay at the shutters desk and they sent me to guest services to put the gift card on my account...You can’t pre-pay, but you can use what is in your account (which includes the OBC).

Yes. The only place that can theoretically take a gift card on the ship is the stores - not Shutters. You could have gone ahead and put the pics on your KTTW card and then gone to Guest Services and applied the gift card to your account rather than making 2 trips.
