We are planning on purchasing Memory Maker so hoping to know beforehand if our ride pictures will automatically be added. I was hoping they could test them at customer service?
I don't believe there's any way they can test them. You'll be fine though. I have MB's that are 3+ years old and have worked fine. 2 years won't be a problem
From what I've read two years might be getting close to the battery's expected life span. Try it for a day and see if your ride pictures are available? Otherwise, to be safe you might just want to get new ones.

But does that just checking the "touch point" part of it .. or the "long range" RFID part of it?
My guess the battery probably lasts longer than they advertise
1) To be safe and not get complaints when they do wear out.
2) To help push additional Magic Band sales
I had the same question as I plan on going in March and staying offsite, so I won't want to get new bands, but I will potentially get Memory Maker because we will be going with a large group of friends.
I'm pretty sure they can test them somehow. At Be Our Guest for lunch, I was wearing an old band. They scanned it and then gave me a rose for tracking, presumably because my long-range RFID wasn't working. Either that, or they made the decision based on the age of the band.
