Is there a way to test our 2 yr old Magic Bands to see if the battery is still working? really hoping not to buy 6 more!

The battery powers the long range function. Bands will always work at contact readers.

Not until you get there. You're bands should be fine though at being 2 years old.

All bands will work at touch points no matter how old they are. So park entrance, FP's

The life of the mb will affect long range features such as automatically putting your ride photos and videos to your MDE.

We are planning on purchasing Memory Maker so hoping to know beforehand if our ride pictures will automatically be added. I was hoping they could test them at customer service?

I don't believe there's any way they can test them. You'll be fine though. I have MB's that are 3+ years old and have worked fine. 2 years won't be a problem

From what I've read two years might be getting close to the battery's expected life span. Try it for a day and see if your ride pictures are available? Otherwise, to be safe you might just want to get new ones.

For all but two(?) rides, you can scan your band afterwards to add the photos to your account.

They test ours at check in every time we bring old one's with

But does that just checking the "touch point" part of it .. or the "long range" RFID part of it?

My guess the battery probably lasts longer than they advertise
1) To be safe and not get complaints when they do wear out.
2) To help push additional Magic Band sales

I had the same question as I plan on going in March and staying offsite, so I won't want to get new bands, but I will potentially get Memory Maker because we will be going with a large group of friends.

Never heard of this. I know you're not sure, but which two rides did you think they were?
Seven Dwarf's Mine Train, for one. I was thinking Tower of Terror, but that might just be the other ride that has a video.

I'm pretty sure they can test them somehow. At Be Our Guest for lunch, I was wearing an old band. They scanned it and then gave me a rose for tracking, presumably because my long-range RFID wasn't working. Either that, or they made the decision based on the age of the band.
