Using Old Magic Bands

We are spending a few days at WDW after a cruise, so we will be driving in from Port Canaveral the morning of our first Disney day. I would like to drive directly to DHS before checking into our hotel to maximize our park time. We are Canadian, so we will not be receiving our Magic Bands by mail before we leave and are given them when we check into our hotel. Will we be able to use old Magic Bands that are still attached to our MDE accounts without checking in first or do we have to check in first in order for our tickets to be activated?

1. Will we be able to use old Magic Bands that are still attached to our MDE accounts without checking in first
2. or do we have to check in first in order for our tickets to be activated?
1. Yes.
2. No.

I don't know if this means anything or not, but while I have never had trouble using my tickets on my MB before check in, I have had charging issues. Maybe it was just me.

Oh yeah, I guess that could be something to think about too. We will have the dining plan. Will that work before checking in as well?

Since you're doing online checkin (I assume), your dining plan should work.

Any dining plan or charging issues are a glitch and can be addressed IF they pop up.

You don 't really mean, "Before checking-in."
You mean, "Before we go to our hotel."
(You will be already "checked-in" if you use on-line check-in, and that can be done weeks in advance.)
So, you CAN be "checked in" long before you go to the hotel.

Yes, you are right. We just still have to go to the front desk when we arrive since we do not get our rooms numbers sent to us or our Magic Bands mailed out, so I still associate it with checking in even though that is not technically what we are doing. But yes, we have, in fact, already "checked in"! :teeth:
