Using obb for blackout date

We are silver, have an obb placeholder and our window for booking opens today. Unfortunately, we can only travel at peak times due to school schedules so every cruise we are interested in booking is blacked out. We will only be taking one cruise in the timeframe left on our obb as PTO at my job is limited.
I emailed our TA at DU to let her know our dates. She has asked me a couple times now if I am sure I want to use my OBB and not make a new reservation. Am I missing something? Is it better to do a new booking?
My thought is, with the obb I know I won't get 10% off, but I do get the obc from DCL and DU. I wouldn't be "wasting" the booking since we couldn't cruise again within the timeframe anyway. If something later opens in the school schedule for us to travel on a non-blackout date, I could always change my booking to that date and use the full perks of obb then correct?

Yes, you would be able to change your reservation if something becomes available. I think your agent wants to make sure you are willing to use your OBB for a blacked out cruise because you will not get the full benefits.

If you do a NEW booking with DU you would get the full OBC that they give out vs. half for an OBB--so check to see which one would give you more OBC. Using your OBB: DCL gives you $100 for cruises under 7 days, $200 for 7 days or more.

It's a 7 day cruise I am most interested in, based on what others here have posted it will be around $7k.
So assuming a cost between $7000 and $7999, I would get $200 from DCL and $175. Same price bracket with direct new booking would give me $350 from DU. So it's pretty much the same total OBC either way.
I just wanted to be sure there wasn't something else I was missing

You should be good then! As long as your cruise is under $8999, you'll get more (or the same OBC) with a 7 night cruise by combining the 2 OBC's. It's the less than 7 nt ones that it would be better to get the full DU OBC vs. combining if you can't use the 10% discount.

And yes, you should be able to retain the OBC benefits if you were going to change to a non-blacked out date within your original 24 mth period--as long as you say you are changing the cruise to a different date.
