If you were a book dealer, selling a ton of books, does the USPS still let you ship via media mail?

If it's media, and the customers don't mind waiting, then yes, anyone can use media mail.

I don't understand why a business would use it, though. It takes longer than 1st class or priority.

Price, I imagine is much lower. I was just thinking about the books I buy used on amazon. Many come from sellers via Media Mail, but I don't know if they are businesses or not.

Some may have been people selling their old books, I used to be one of them. I stopped selling thru Amazon because it became a pain in the neck. But when I first did it, they told you to use Media Mail.

I shipped out some books and CD's a few weeks ago. The price difference between media mail and first class was not enough for me to choose medial mail. In one instance, media mail would have actually cost more than FCM.

My advice is to make sure that you check USPS.gov before you actually try to sell anything.

Businesses can and do use media mail:

Amazon ususally ships their books when free super saver shipping is chosen via media mail though large orders sometimes arrive via UPS.

Borders ships via media mail when free shipping is chosen but again larger orders sometimes arrive via UPS.

Many, many of the private publishers than I buy from directly ship via media mail, especially if they offer a free shipping option.

Unless I'm shipping internationally I personally ship all my used books that I sell on e-bay via media mail unless it's cheaper to ship via first class. I sell several hundred books a year (yeah, much to my DH's chagrin I read that much ).

yes businesses can ship media mail.
one of the places i routinely order books from offers media mail as a shipping choice.

As long as there is no advertising in the book or magazine, anyone can ship Media Mail.

I sold some old Life Magazines on Amazon but had to ship them regular USPS because they have advertising. I sell my DD's textbooks on Amazon and always ship Media Mail unless the customer pays for Express.
