Using ME when flying 'Standby'

Hello! We are planning to bring our kids on their first trip to DW in May 2011! Thanks to my awesome SIL, we will be traveling on the airline she works for on 'standby', meaning we won't know the flight info until we get cleared to fly that day! So, any suggestions on how to still utilize ME doing this? How late can you request pick up? Has anyone done this before? We are not planning on renting a car.

You'll need to make a reservation in advance and there's no reason not to do it now. DME doesn't really use your specific flight time to put you in a specific seat or a specific bus; it's more for general capacity planning purposes.

I would make a DME reservation using the flight that you would like to be on and leave it at that. As long as you tag your bags and arrive between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., they will be automatically transported to your resort. And as long as you have a reservation they will put you on a bus and get you to your resort.

You can call and tell them your arrival date and that you are flying stand-by and don't have an exact flight number.

Make sure you use your yellow tags or save your luggage receipts so they can retrieve your bags.

It is more critical returning home, because you are going to be placed on a bus three hours prior to a flight - so you may want to ask what to do in that case.

Suggestions.

Going to Disney, give to DME the flight number of the flight after the first one you will try to stand by for. Use the yellow tags in the normal fashion.

Going home, give the flight number of the first flight you will try to stand by for.
