Using Magic Bands Before Check in

Hi Everyone,

We are living for FL in a few weeks. We are spending the first three nights at Universal and our last 3 in POFQ. We would like to make rope drop on our first day at WDW. Can we go straight to the park in the morning and check into our hotel later in the afternoon? Or do we have to go to the hotel first and check in before we can go to the parks? I'm just trying to figure out what time we need to check out of Universal to get to MK by 9.

If you already have park tickets linked in your MDX account, you should have no trouble going directly to the parks. Also, if you fully complete the on line check-in stuff in MDX (set up a pin, put a credit card on file, enter a text or email address, etc), you may be able to skip the front desk altogether and go straight to your room after your visit to the parks. Disney should let you know about all this a week or so before your arrival.

As long as you have entry material, have done the online check-in process and a credit card linked to your reservation (which is part of the online check-in), you can use your MagicBands.

Be sure if you do online check in, that you put your time of arrival before parking opening. I made the mistake 2 weeks ago putting 4pm on ours, we ended up at the parks a few hours early, and our bands wouldn't work. Sooo, after 30 minutes in the Guest Relations line, we were good to go.
