Using magic band before check in?

So, I am doing a crazy red eye trip where I fly in from Chicago at 5am, get to Florida at 10:20, and getting to DAK as soon as possible. Will I be able to make purchases using my magic band before I check in at the hotel? Or should I just use my credit card before then.

If you do online checkin before arrival, you should be able to use your MB to charge to your resort bill before you go to the resort. I’d try that first before pulling out the CC.

I think if you do the online check-in and say you are arriving @ 10AM you should be able to use your magic band to make purchases. You might have to actually click on the I've arrived thing in the app before you can start charging on the magic band. Not 100% sure as I hate using the online check-in. I prefer to insure my somewhat simple room requests of not being assigned a room on the first floor of any building are met so always stop by the front desk. What are you doing with your luggage before you go to AK, keeping it in a rental car?

WE have done that. Did online check in and had no issues using the MB in the parks for getting in the park or charging to the room.

I am using only a backpack, I'm a very light packer, and bringing it with me. Ill decide the day of if I want to leave it in a locker

You can do on-line check-in weeks/months in advance of your arrival. I doubt that has any impact on when you can start using your magic band.

We use MBs & online check in. There is no “I’ve arrived” button in the app (except for mobile ordering food). When we arrive at the hotel, we drop our luggage at bell services if we haven’t gotten a room ready notice. We go to a park &/or restaurant. The MBs work for our APs & room charging with no issues. We almost never go to the desk unless it’s later & we haven’t heard about our room or if we’re staying club level & need an escort to the floor.

If you haven’t done online check in, you will have to stop at the front desk to put a credit card on file & set up room charging. So in that case, the MBs wouldn’t work for payment until you do that.
