I gather from the Disney web site that we can reuse last years magic bands as well as receiving new ones this year.
Has anyone done this, and did it work OK?

Also can't remember what we did on the way back but am assuming that the magic bands are likely to set off alarms when going through the airports, are they best put in suitcases rather than wearing them or putting in hand luggage.

One of our suitcases was opened whilst going through one of the American airports last year on the way back and I am wondering if it was the magic bands that caused this?

If you go on to your MDE account you should see the set of MB you have now listed as active. It has been confirmed from a few sources that unless you go into MDE and deactivate them yourself that they will work just fine in the parks.

Also we had our MBs in my backpack when traveling through security and they were just fine. I don't however recommend walking through the scanners with it on your wrist.

On a side note, I also noticed recently that the room key we were given last time was still listed as active on our MDE accounts. If you were there during the testing period where they still were giving both bands and cards out make sure you know where the card is or that you deactivate it on MDE as any card could still be used for charging privillges. I had been letting my 2yr old play with mine for months without realizing it was still active. :rotfl:

mbs from previous trips work unless you deactivate them

we wore them through the scanners at MCO after being told by a TSA officer that they didn't pose any problem

Yes you can reuse your old bands - I have 6 bands now and can use any of them. I wear the colour that best matches my outfit for the day.

They cause no issues for airport security you can have them on you, in your hand luggage or in your checked bags. :thumbsup2

It might be active but the charging privileges stop working on midnight on your check out day. However any card or band can be used to access the information on your MDE account so if you had a new reservation and had tickets that card could be used to access them. :goodvibes

One thing I have found is that old bands sometimes don't open your room on the next trip but I think this is more a glitch than planned.

I've used old bands for both park access and charging. In fact I always wear two when in the park now as it means I can 'beep' a Mickey head with either hand.

Makes things easier, especially when you walk with a cane as I do.

:)
