Using GF services during Poly stay?

We leave tomorrow evening and will be at POR for 3 nights and then the Poly for a week. This morning I am talking to my husband on his way to work and he mentions that he is looking forward to getting into the hot tub and letting it work on his sore shoulder, also says that although we will be doing a ton of walking still might want to get a workout in. I had to break it to him...Sorry, honey, there is no hot tub at the Polynesian and there is no gym either, but I have heard you can use the services at the GF. So please help me out here...does the GF have a hot tub and gym? Can he walk from the Poly to GF and how far? What about monorail...it is direct or does he have to go all the way around first?

That is my understanding as well, that Poly guests can use the GF hot tub & gym facilities, but I have no first-hand experience with this. I would contact Poly Guest Services/Front Desk for more details. (There should be a resort phone number on the back of your confirmation letter.)

Transpo to the GF to/from Poly...hmm, don't know about walking, can't remember the reosrts order on the monorail... But there are little resort boat shuttles that link all the Deluxe/MK resorts, sometimes with each other(GF/Poly/MK) sometimes with MK(Wilderness Lodge).

The lack of an on-site hot tub is one reason why we don't like the Poly as much as we otherwise might. I really miss it when a resort doesn't have a hot tub & I don't understand why the Poly doesn't have one (especially since they just underwent that massive volcano pool rehab a few years backand the moderates have hot tubs!). There's certainly plenty of room for a hot tub *somewhere* on the grounds.

I'm sure you'll have a great time there, though, the access to the MK can't be beat.

Here is information regarding these questions for you from allearsnet.com

Have a great trip. We are making our first trip to the Poly next year.

Is there a Jacuzzi?

No. However, the new Nanea Volcano pool features a hot water area in the deep end, near the slide. It has an underwater seating area where the hot jets feed into the pool.

Is there a health club?

There are no health club facilities at the Polynesian, however, Polynesian guests may use the Grand Floridian's Health Club located one monorail stop away, free-of-charge. Polynesian guests can also walk to the Health Club via a walkway on the west side of the resort.

It is a short walk from the Polynesian to the GF Spa. 5-10 minute walk depending on where you are at the Polynesian. It is really about as close to some of the Polynesian buildings as it is to some of the GF buildings. The monorail would take much longer because you would have to walk back toward the Polynesian after getting off at the GF. The dock for the launches is even further.

I love allearsnet :earsboy: . Just so you know, however...the 'hot water area' shouldn't in any way be considered a type of a hot tub. We stayed at the Poly after the Volcano Pool rehab...that area *is* somewhat warmer, but not a classic hot tub/Jacuzzi.

BCV23 - Thanks for the info @ walking from the Poly to the GF Spa. I just couldn't quite remember  when I posted how close/far the Poly and the GF are to each other.

Let your DH know there is no hot tub/jacuzzi at the Poly. They have a very small jetted area in the corner at the end of the pool which is located in the worst spot... the end of the slide!!!! It's very annoying because the kids come splashing down in front of you and it's not relaxing and very noisy.

Well, that wasn't a very good job of designing, was it? :teeth:

Not at all and for a deluxe hotel I don't see why they don't have a separate area for one....maybe alongside the quiet pool would be a nice location.
