It looks like I will only have enough frequent flyer miles for 2 of the 3 tickets I need for our trip in June, 2002.

Actually, I have enough right now for 1 ticket and should have enough for the second ticket by fall.

Should I get those 2 tickets now and wait for the price to drop before buying the third ticket? I've never cashed in frequent flyer miles so I'm not sure how it works. If I wait until the price drops for the 3rd ticket will the frequent flyer seats be gone?

Soooo confused????

If I get the tickets at different times is there any risk of not getting on the same flight?

If it were me, I would book all the tickets as soon as I could find availability for the Frequent Flier tickets on a flight that I could afford. Keep in mind that Frequent Flier ticket seats are limited and often are gone to popular destinations like Orlando and Hawaii many months in advance.

I would not risk booking the FF tickets now and waiting for a sale as that flight could sell out and you will be split up.

Also be aware that you can purchase Frequent Flyer miles from many airlines to top off an account (Usually no more than 5-10,000 miles)
