Does anyone know if its accurate that you cant use DVC points even though there is availabilty on the ship. DVC is currently saying that DVC only gets a set number of rooms and that is that. When they are all booked DVC is done, even if there is a cancellation. The room goes back to DCL. Does this sound right and/or is there a way around it?

I tried to book a cruise using my points and was told it was sold out - and there was availability for all cabins. I guess they really only do get so many rooms and that is it. But, I have been cruising on points since 2000 and it only ever happened once - but I usually book out the full 11 months. Keeping my fingers crossed for next December since I can't do anything until January.

Yes, it's true that DVC only gets a set number of rooms allocated to them, and once they are sold out, that's it the cruise is locked off for DVC members using points, even if there is a cancellation. The only way around it is to book the cruise on cash and rent your points to cover the cost, that's what we're planning on doing for our 7-8-06 cruise.

Yep!! ::yes:: You have the added benefit of getting more bang for your buck that way too. We were able to get a cash ressie for a cat 6 room for the same price (in points) that we were going to have to pay for a cat 11.
