Using DVC points for hotel room at Aulani

We are planning a trip to Aulani next year for a five night stay (combined with the DCL cruise!). In looking at the point charts, I see that it is possible to book a stay in the "hotel" portion of the resort. I am worried about getting a reservation at the 7th month mark in a studio, but am wondering if getting a hotel room using DVC points is easier? More difficult? Anyone have any insight?

My understanding is that there are only 6 hotel rooms that were made available to DVC since one DVC Standard View Grand Villas and a couple of Standard View Villas were removed from member inventory and converted to a dining option.
