Has anyone used their DVC points for DLP? We are looking into this for our Europe Trip... Do the tickets come with the hotel? I know if you pay cash they do... is it worth it??

Hi ,We have stayed at DLP using points at the Newport bay and New York Hotels.(Stays using points include breakfast) You have to purchase tickets from MS for the whole time you stay using your points.DLP is not as big as the venues in the USA.However the convenience of being on site is a bonus. I think it depends on what you want to do when in Paris. the Hotels on site do run tours into Paris so that may be an option for you. Hope this helps ,Have a Disney Day!

We have used points to stay at DLRP when we couldn't manage a trip to WDW.

It used to include the park tickets but this changed last year and now you just get breakfast (continental not cooked) included. You have to buy length of stay tickets for each member of the party from MS.

Whether it is worth it is open to debate. As I am sure you are aware there is lots of debate as to whether it is worth using points for non-DVC properties. IMHO if you have the points available, and would be going there anyway, why not use them.

We have stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, Newport Bay and Sequoia Lodge. If using points I would recommend either SL or NB as they are much cheaper points value. One thing worth noting is that you can only get a standard room using points - if you want anything else then you would have to pay cash. We did get upgraded once though when we had used points.

I just made reservations for the end of August at Sequoia Lodge using our points. There was a $95 fee and we had to buy the tickets thru Member Services for length of stay. We are going to DLP after a week in Paris

We used to live in Belgium, and frequented DLP often with our kids. The very first time we went, we used out points and stayed at Newport Bay. I have to say, being on property there isn't as great as being on property at WDW. For we paid in points for the room, it just wasn't worth it. Are you going to be there during the week, or on the weekend? If you are going to be there only on the weekend, you NEED to be on property to take advantage of the extended hours of magic. With the RER line right outside the main gate, there are alot of locals that take the train in on the weekends, and the parks are swamped and wait times for the attractions are VERY long...but if you can get in as a resort guest during EHM, you can ride almost everything before the masses show up. Now, if you are going during the week and you will have a rental car, I highly recommend the Marriott Village d'lle de France. They are two or three bedroom townhouses that are more like our DVC accomodations....MUCH more comfortable than where we stayed at Newport Bay. There is a local bus you can take from the hotel to the park, but we never used that as we always had our car (the hotel is only a 5 minute drive to the park).
Good luck with whatever you decide to do! We love DLP!!! Big Thunder Mountain and SPace Mountain are amazing and soooo much better than at WDW. The "American" section at IASW was fun to ride through...although it gave me an odd feeling to see the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in the display.... The theming around the park is very interesting and there is alot of detail around the parks...take time to take it all in. Be sure to stop by and see what ives under the castle...and be certain to climb up into the castle and wave to the crowds below from the terrace...you will feel like a princess!

Hi,

I just got home this morning from using my points to stay at the Hotel New York in DLP for 3 nights.

It was fabulous to be able to have this budget trip, when I have a 2 week WDW trip in October. It cost me approximately £250 for everything, it would have cost me over 1500 Euros for the same trip if I had paid rack rate.

It does cost more points to stay at the more "deluxe" hotels, but I had banked points that were going to expire.

You have to pay the $95 fee and also buy length of stay passes from Member Services when you book.

The Hotel New York and Disneyland Hotel have cooked breakfast items included with the standard continental/ cereal type breakfast, but the other hotels do not.

I think it is really worth it if you have spare points, it works out to be a lot cheaper than paying cash, and you get the same service for a lot less. I am considering doing it again next year, but will try to avoid weekends, as they are a lot busier, even in low season.

If you have any other questions I could help with, just ask.

Does anyone know when I can book DLP for October?

Thanks!

We are staying for the first time in July for 3 nights. We have to leave EARLY on our last morning and was wondering what time do they start the breakfast?

What kind of tours into Paris do they offer?

That's actually not true - the Hotel E'lysee Val d'Europe has an agreement with Disney to allow its guests to participate in EMH, too. It is one stop away on the RER line (Val d'Europe) in a little shopping area and very close to the large outlet mall. I stayed there for 1 night and it was fine - very plain accommodations, but fine. I don't know if I could have taken it for 3 nights as the rooms were more Econo Lodge and I am kind of a hotel snob ;) but it was also only $75 US for a standard room! They offer family rooms that are larger, but I don't remember the details of those.

That might be an option to consider if you want to do DLP but don't want to pay what IMO is a lot of points for the stay.

We were a bit disheartened when we were looking into booking Disney's Sequoia Lodge for four nights in september.

It would have cost us 88 points Which I can rent out for $880 (usd) / 1.4 = £628(ish) pounds

The reservation itself was only £630 with park tickets.

There are a few snags with booking with points too.

Can't book within the last 4 months of your use year :s

$95 fee..

Must book length of stay tickets

I'm sure there was one more stipulation.

Worked out a much better deal paying cash and renting the points out to "replenish" my bank account
