Using DME just to transport my luggage?

Hi and thanks in advance for any info!

I have a trip upcoming in August, which includes Magical Express. I've used the service plenty in the past, and am familiar with it in general.

However, I'm thinking of getting a rental car... but would like to not be bothered with waiting around at baggage claim....

Can I "not show up" for my Magical Express ride at MCO, and expect that my luggage will find its way to my resort?

Not according to the rules.

Not sure but there have been reports of luggage never showing up because there is no record of getting on the bus.

That triggers them to get your bags.
