And paying it off that month. Is this possible? We are looking for a new car and will pay cash but just wondered if this is a way to go to get Disney Rewards. I don't' even know if car dealerships do this. Thanks for any help.

We wanted to do this when we bought our last Toyota about 2 years ago. The dealership would only allow a maximum of $6000 to be put on a credit card. Still, it was nice to get the extra reward points for the amount they allowed!

Most dealers have some max they will let you use a CC for. Ours was $4,000 last time we bought a new car.

We put our additional warranty coverage on our Disney Visa, along with the leather seat treatment that we purchased. Our dealer has a maximum that you could put on a CC as well.

Their % of the processing fee is usually what determines how much they are willing to fork over for you to get rewards points! HAHA

We all dream of life lived on Disney Dream Reward Dollars, don't we?! HAHA

If only.... :beach:

Our dealer allowed a maximum of $5000. We used our Southwest Visa and paid it off as soon as the transaction posted.

My friend did her downpayment on her car on her Disney Visa and then paid it off. They allowed $5000.

So smart! A great way to earn rewards when purchasing big items!

When we purchased our new Pathfinder a few months ago, the dealership only allowed $3500 to be placed on a visa. Too bad it wasn't the whole amount!

Last summer I put my $4000 down payment on new Hyundai Elantra on my Disney Visa; 2 x $2000 as that was the limit per dealer. Went home and sent the $4000 to Chase using on line bill pay. :)

We put our entire purchase of a mini-van on our card 9 years ago. The same dealer 4 years ago would only allow $3,000. Seems they have all changed that.

1) Dealers put a max you can charge on a card.
2) It is not a limit by the credit card company.
3) We did ALL of our car purchase on a card.
. . . went to dealer on last Tuesday of the month
. . . this is the best day, as month-end, and Tues are slowest day
. . . went 1-hour before closing
. . . kept talking PAST closing time
. . . they knew they had a deal
. . . but, without credit card, we were walking (and we meant it)
. . . they let the whole amount be on the card
. . . they did want to lose a deal "they" worked so hard for

NOTE: The "last Tuesday of the month" and "near closing time" is
a well published purchasers trick. And, it works almost all the time.

All that really means is you paid about 3% more for the car than you needed to.

And you kept the car salesman at work past closing for this. They do not get paid by hour. It is not fun for them to not get home to their families until after midnight.

Look, I find most of this guys post to be patently ridiculous. But, in this case where did he mention midnight???

No successful salesman minds working a little late to get a sale.

If you come in right before closing, how long do you think it will take to finish the deal and be out the door?
The wife minds... When this guy just wants to go against a dealerships policy just to get some points.

I'm guessing you have never been in sales, other than maybe retail?

Bob, in your haste to criticize Rusty, you've written a pat that doesn't make sense. If the price was agreed upon prior to discussing payment methods, the dealership ate the merchant services fee.

DH sold lexus for a while. If he thought it would make a sale he would have stayed all night. If he brought me a big commission check with a big grin on his face it was all good.:lmao:
