Can anyone help me sort this out so I can make my reservation? Last year we booked a package (room, tix, dining plan) through Disney and wanted to use our Visa points to oay for some. They said they couldn't do that for the reservation but we could use them at check in. Well, at check in they said we couldn't use them to pay for a package. So our saved points were useless to us and it was a few hundred $ more!

How can I avoid this when I make the reservation this year? Thanks.

We often use our points at check out (or the day before so it doesn't get put on our credit card). We will put our meals on our room ID and then pay for those with the points.

Last year, my friend was able to use her Disney rewards on our room only package. She called, gave the card number, and they put it on our reservation.

I used my points to pay for a package a few weeks ago. I can't imagine why they didn't let you use them last year, maybe the CMs didn't know what was going on.

I just made ressies this week and I got a package. The lady told me that I could use my reward points to pay for the package when the time comes!!

I used my rewards points to put the deposit on my package in June. You should definitely be able to do this. In fact, my TA also used my Rewards Card to hold my Fantasmic Dinner Pkg ressies, just like a credit card.

Question - had you transferred your points to a Rewards Card? You can't use the points until you physically have the card in your possession (which takes 2-4 weeks after you order it from Chase). If you did have the card, then the CMs made a mistake.

Good luck. You should have no problems using this.

Kirag, that reminds me. Can you transfer all your points at once or do you have to do it in segments? Also, is there a fee each time you add your points on? I noticed there is a $10 fee for the rewards card. Does the card or points expire? The fine print on the download is too fine for me to read. Thansk!

I would be careful using them for a reservation. There was a post a couple of weeks ago where someone did that and had to cancel. They were having a hard time getting the points credited back to the card. I'm not sure of the outcome, maybe you can search for the thread.

Thanks for the help. Yes, we did already have them on the rewards card. It was ridiculous that they wouldn't take it. Maybe they didn't really know how. (Although every where else took mine when I used to for treats, etc in the parks.)

I too was worried about using it to pay a deposit. I am very concerned that you would lose the points if you cancelled. I'd rather pay the balance of the bill at check in with it. Thanks for the help. This time we are simply NOT making the reservation until they say they'll accept the card.

I' didn't pay a $10 fee for the rewards card. Once I had my card, I had to have a $10 minimum balance to transfer more rewards to my card.

It only took 10 days for us to get our rewards card. Ordered it on the 9th and had it by the 19th.

BY the way, I grew up in Philly, whereabouts are you located?

OK So the $10 you have to add to your card does not expire? If I add $400 do they expire before March?

Under "My Disney Vacation" on the main disneyworld site, if you log in, you can pay for your trip there. They have a spot for a credit card payment, or Disney Visa reward payment. Its usually slow, but you can definately pay toward a package this way.

Disregard my question above. I finally called visa and she told me if I ordered my card today it would expire the end of 2005 and if I wait until Jan it won't expire until 2007. Since our trip is in March I will wait and write myself a note not to forget to get the card in Jan.! LOL!! I like to have everything done ahead of time.

But, your card didn't expire with all those rewards on it, did it?
