Using Disney Transportation - without tickets?

During our stay at Disney and the PO-Riverside, I was hoping to simply ride the monorail or ferry for the first night when we arrive. Is this allowed without using up a day worth of a park hopper pass?

Wondering the exact same thing!! Do not want to waste a day on my hoppers but want to ride monorail the first night!!

I have ridden the monorail on our first night many times. If you are staying on site, as we were you are entitled to free use of WDW transportation system regardless of you ticket purchase. I have never been asked to show any proof of where I was staying or my park ticket.

Enjoy the trip. You may even want to hop the ferry over to the WL. Don't forget to stop at the hotels and take a look around.

As long as you don't actually enter a park, you will not use up a day of your passes. You can ride the transportation to your heart's content. I'd suggest taking some tie to check out the other resorts while you're at it.

Yes - you are allowed complimentary use of the transportation systems as a guest at one of the WDW resorts. You may want to carry your resort id with you just in case you are asked.

I often see this service as being for those who are 'a guest at one of the WDW resorts'. In reality, if one walked up tp one of the 'exposed' bus stops such as DTD or at PI, you could hop from there to the TTC and so on to any destination in WDW. I've never seen anyone asked for passes orroom cards in 6 years of visits.

Not a problem we have had friends who were staying off site get a ride to Disney & then get to us by Disney bus lines.

I am led to believe that, except when there are security alerts or when a particular resort's parking lot is getting full, Disney actually welcomes having day guests tour the resorts, getting there by bus if need be. Aside from this, the only thing that keeps day guests off the buses is the lack of anything to do at the destination.

We are staying at the Swan in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know where the closest Monorail station is to the hotel. We would like to do a monorail tour without using a park hopper day, too. Where are the out of park stations? Thanks

There are no monorail stops "inside" the parks, so you can ride from any of the monorail stops without using an admission day on you park passes.The stations are outside Epcot, MK, the Ticket and Transportation Center, and at the three monorail resorts (Contemporary, Poly, and GF). There are actually two different monorail routes; you switch from one to the other at the TTC.

I suppose the closest monorail stop to the Swan is the one outside Epcot. Unfortunately, you cannot easily get there from the Swan without using park admission, since the normal way to get from the Swan to Epcot is to take the boat which drops you off at the International Gateway entrance to Epcot (located between the France and Great Britain attractions in the World Showcase section of Epcot) rather than at the main entrance to Future World where the monorail station is located. It would probably be quickest to take a bus to the MK and walk to the monorail station without going into the park itself. Although a greater distance, that bus trip is actually pretty quick, since it makes only one stop (at the Dolphin) and then heads on over to MK. It's probably a two-minute walk from the bus drop off to the monorail station.
