How do you use the Disney Dream Reward Dollars (DDRD) that we have earned by using our Chase Credit Cards? I want to use them to pay for excursions and/or stuff purchased on the ship. Both DH and I have earned DDRD to spend. Thanks for the info. I looked at their website and am having difficulty figuring it out.

Call Chase and they will send you a card with your reward dollars on it. As far as I know you give the card to guest services when you get on the ship. That's what I plan on doing anyway. Or I'm sure you can do it online or over the phone. It's kind of like a regular credit card.

We do this and love having "fun money." You should be able to obtain your card online-but if not all the directions are on the website. We just bring the card to Guest Services and then load them onto our stateroom account. You can use it toward you excursions, Palo, purchases in the shops, movie food, drinks...anything...Works same as cash. However, use it all-there has been some discussion that they may or may not put the balance back on your card if you don't use it all...We haven't run into this problem...just something to be aware of.

I'm not worried about this problem, I have $60 on my card and just the tips on our 11 day are around $540! :lmao:

Sounds like us... we pre-paid our gratuities, and for 14 nights for a family of four (2 adults, one turning 5 and one barely 1) it came to $672. My one percent rewards won't come anywhere close. :rotfl2: But now that gratuities are paid, I can have a little bit of fun money! :thumbsup2

When I called Chase to ask about what to do, at first they told me that Disney Rewards couldn't be used on DCL (???) I called back a couple weeks later about another issue and was told this was bupkis, and this was his advice:
Call 4-6 weeks before the cruise to get the card, and either call your TA to add to your OBC or give to Guest Services onboard
If you used your card to pay for your cruise, make sure the $50 OBC is confirmed and in your account.
Ask about what other perks they can offer -- add'l OBC and even room upgrades. He said that Chase Disney LOVES to reward their card holders with extra treats when they are available. Considering we are travelling 'off season' in October he said there's a greater chance of some pixie dust coming our way. Not a guarantee, but oh wouldn't it be nice?

No matter what I posted here, I think it's definately worth calling and picking their brain about what Chase Disney offers -- we aren't great credit card users (we don't carry a balance, and only use it for $1,000+ purchases to get a big glob of reward dollars, so they are probably losing money on us...) but if you're a more active user, they may do more for you!!!

Have a great cruise!!!!

We don't have this problem either...We put as many bills on our card and pay them off monthly. This is paying for ALL of our Alaskan Excursions!

On our last cruise we went with the "if you see it and you like it buy it" mentality b/c we had so many points. Family that we were traveling with thought we were just wasting money...then found out it was 'free.' :thumbsup2

I forgot about the OBC...We got this for our cruise. Definitely need to look into the extra pixie dust!

I was on the boat and gave them my chase card saying that I had rewards on it. They took it and called it in for me and gave me a card with the rewards on it and I used it towards my bill. Not a problem at all! :D

We used our rewards card last week on the Dream. We took it to Guest Services and had it loaded onto our account. At the end, they put the remaining balance (a whopping $12) back onto our rewards card. No problems at all.

We did this on our last cruise as well. I was able to do it through their web site. I logged in where I would normally pay my bill, and followed the links from there to get the rewards card. But, I am sure you could call as well to accomplish the same thing.

I gave the rewards card to guest services once we we were settled in on the Magic and she loaded it onto my on-board account. I used it up the first day LOL!

Where do you find out how much the gratuity will be? I'm going on the Alaska cruise.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone for the info - I've already pre-spent our approx $700 rewards on excursions! Had hoped it would go further, but just grateful we have it at all.:goodvibes

There's a link in the FAQ sticky or you can look on DCL's website. The suggested tips are $12/guest/day, or $84/guest for a 7 day cruise.

In addition, if you have a dorkfish moment like us and forgot to activate the rewards card before you left on the cruise, Guest Services called Chase for us and we were able to activate it while on the ship.:thumbsup2

I held onto our card until the night before and then applied it to our onboard balance so I wouldn't have to worry about whether or not they could reload anything left over. Funny, I planned to use every reward dollar, but several factors left us with rewards left on our card (CC Parasailing Canceled, Bingo win!)

That is a good idea, as one of our excursions is quite pricey, and if it gets canceled we would have $$ left (unless we spend it on the ship's store);)

Hi Mythicalbee!

I am not sure if you are saying that I should contact Chase or talk to Guest Services on board for the possible "extras" for being a Chase Disney Visa holder. Can you please clarify that for me?

Thanks!

This is an old thread, and the poster you are questioning may or may not still be active on the boards. What specifically is your question?

To find out what "perks" are offered for the Disney Visa card - you can go do the Disney Rewards website (www.disneyrewards.com). Specific to cruising, there is an OBC offer of $50 if you book and pay for your cruise entirely using the Disney Visa card (assuming no other "discount" fare of any kind). At the moment I think this is only good through this Sept. 2013 but is likely to be extended. There is also 0% financing available for any cruise or WDW/DLR vacation booked through Disney and paid for with a Disney Visa.

There are merchandise discounts and some other offers, but I don't think they pertain to DCL cruises.

HTH!

We used it for our VGT cruises (is that considered discount cruising?) this spring and still got the on board credit.

I also plan to use it along with my 10% coupon, is that considered a discount?
