I have a trip planned in July during the free disney dining. We will be upgrading our meal plan to include a table service meal. I am traveling with my adult children (party of 6). We are planning to eat at the California Grill (2 Credit dinner). My son is a still a very picky eater and will most likely not like the menu and pick a small item such as a pizza. Instead of wasting 2 dining credits can we opt to pay cash for his meal and use dining credits for others. Also do they allow sharing a meal between 2 people?

Yes you can pay OOP for his meal and save/use the credits for something/someone else.

Most places have no problem with 2 people sharing a meal. I've never seen a report of anyone not being able to at CG.

No problem at all. Getting the standard DDP and paying cash for kids’ meals for kids that are barely Disney adults is a great way to stretch credits to cover 2 credit meals and/or breakfast.
