My mother said when she was a kid they used to use the color cartoon section of the newspaper to wrap gifts, not necessarily Christmas gifts but any gifts. Have any of you ever done that?
I think I've done it once or twice with my kids, but we have so much school fundraiser wrapping paper around, that I don't think of using the "funnies" now.
I don't remember anyone doing that, but I remember my grandmother carefully removing gift wrap and bows from any packages she received to reuse the next year. The gift wrap was a bit more durable in those days and you could carefully flatten it again and again. She was a young woman during the depression and never gave up her frugal ways.
I loved them wrapped that way though. This is my first Christmas as a mom and I want to start some kind of tradition like that for my son's Santa gifts.Yes!!! Not Christmas gifts, but birthday gifts. We were going green before it was in!
