on my last trip I used a wheelchair as I had two strong men (my sons) to push me. Next trip it is just st my sister and I. I will rent an ECV offsite and use Disney transportation.
When boarding buses, will I be required to back it onto bus? I have difficulty looking over my shoulder due to spinal issues. I can get off and board bus, but am not able to push scooter on myself.
Also, do I go through line? Can ECV fit? Or is there a spot I park and wait? I don't want to line jump, just not sure how they do it. I know I can't get on bus if it's full and has no room for ECV.
Thank you. It's my sisters first trip and I don't want to ruin it with my mobility problems.

You will wait in a line with wheelchairs and scooters together. You can drive forward unto the lift of the bus. You will be allowed first on the bus, but you will be last to get off. Obviously, there may be someone before you getting on with a wheelchair or scooter. There's room usually for two handicap vehicles at a time.

Not sure whether you will be able to drive forward only to get into position on the bus. To get in place there may be a little reverse coming into play, but it may not require you looking back. Your sister will be with you and she can be your eyes to a degree, if necessary. Also, if this becomes too difficult for you to get on and off the bus with the scooter then maybe your sister can do some of the steps for you. You might want to warn her that her assistance may be required.

you drive the scooter on straight make a 90 degree right hand turn go beyond your set then back into your spot your sister can do this for you if you would like, the buss drivers for the most part can not park for you but they will guide you into your spot.

I would take 5 or so minutes to practice this at your resort and try partly parking like you would a car making 90 degree turns and just seeing how your ECV starts and stops ( this is something my friend dose and she say it really helps her when she was renting ECV and it only took her 5 minutes and she said it really mad her trip better.

as fair as line most of the time you will get to the buss stop and park in the handicap stop.

the only time I have seen something different is closing for MK ( at lest for all stars and POP do not know if other do this) but the CM will have you go in the normal line ( the CM will be there to tell you this) and then closer to the front they will pull you out and have you load first ( I have only seen this done at MK, and there there will be a very long line and not handicap spot so you will know and CM are there to help with crowds and they will tell you,)

As mentioned, you drive straight on, turn to the right and then back into your spot. The bus drivers are hugely helpful, so don't worry. Most of the rides have handicap entrances or the CM will pull you out of the line and direct you to an area to park your ECV. Then they will move it so you can get right back on when you get off. And yes, at night when folks are leaving the parks, you have to be in line with the rest of the folks. At least this was the case at POP, waiting for the bus. In the morning you just drive it right to the handicapped section and they will load you first. It took me a few times to get the backing up right. There will be help, so try not to stress about it. The ECV made it possible for me to go to Disney, otherwise I would never be able to do all that walking. It saved me. Enjoy your trip!

Most attractions DO NOT have handicapped entrances that are different from the regular line.
Almost every line is wheelchair accessible in the regular and Fastpass line. Many of those are also ECV accessible. If the line is not, you would have the choice to park the ECV and walk in (regular line or Fastpass if you have a Fastpass for that attraction) or park the ECV and switch to one of the attraction wheelchairs.

The new buses have ramps so as already mentioned you drive straight up. Then park it like you would a car so you might need to back it up a little to get into the spot. The driver their to help guide you so don't worry. They will make sure you load safely and make sure you have a great bus ride.

This is exactly my worry as well. I am so worried and scared, I am brining my rollator instead of RCV. I am following your question in homes of being able to calm myself down and just rent an ECV. Good question!

@Elliesmommy
I had considered a rollator, but walking for any length of time is my problem so I think ECV is a must. It's just not as easy to deal with. I also have trouble with my right arm, so also a concern.

It's back to your sister taking over the scooter for you on and off the bus if necessary. You can try, but just be prepared she may have to do it for you on the buses. It still beats doing a wheelchair. You can use your left arm to do the scooter, too. It just may feel a little awkward. Going straight is easy to use your left arm, but you may need both arms for ride queue turns. Again, your sister can take over in ride queues if you can handle the walking through them.

If you don't feel you can handle a scooter you may have to go with a wheelchair after all. Then, you need to have your sister do it. With the lightweight portable travel wheelchairs your sister may be able to handle it. Otherwise consider someone else coming to help, as well.

I have a question: If you go forward into the bus (on an ECV) do you have to back off of it? It sounds like someway you'll have to do some backing up. :ccat:

no there should be enough room to turn around ( or at lest my friend can turn around in her ECV)
You make a 3 or more point turn. You are also the last off the bus

No the drivers will have you or help you to get it so you can drive off straight. Only time you have to back up is when your parking it on the bus like parell parking.

Disney David: That's a relief! All I have to do now is practice my parallel parking. Thanks! :ccat:

Maybe you could go one morning when a big box store like target or Walmart open barrow one of their ecv. Keep in mind their be bigger then One you rent at Disney. And take four items like cones or similar and make a box and practice with that to get hang of it.

That is exactly what it is like. You pull onto the bus and you parallel park the scooter into place.

As others have said, you can pull off of the bus.

On our last trip, I never parked my scooter and we were there for 10 days. The driver put it in neutral and parked it for me. You can't count on it, but sometimes the bus driver will do that.

That's exactly what I was planning. My daughter and I have a Walmart trip planned for next Monday. I hope I don't knock anything down! :ccat:

think more parallel parking. you roll forward on and off the bus. backing for parking only
