Using Bus/Trolley to get to hotel from MCO Airport

Hi,

I am going to Orlando next month (for only the second time), and our hotel is just off international drive.

I was thinking of taking a bus service from Orlando International Airport to International Drive, and then getting the i-ride trolley to the nearest stop to the hotel.

The i-ride trolley part looks simple enough, but the Lynx bus website isn't very easy to understand.

Has anyone any experience of doing something similar ?

Thanks
Daniel

I thought golynx.com is very easy to use.

I used the Peabody Orlando's address because it was easy to find:
START TRIP LINK 42 Schedule
Bus Stop 9000 AIRPORT BLVD, ORLANDO 32827
DESTINATION
Bus Stop 9700 INTERNATIONAL DR, ORLANDO 32819
@ Cross Street UNIVERSAL BLVD

So you'd take the bus from the airport to the interesection of I-Drive and Universal Boulevard, then find the nearest trolley stop. Simple.

When I put in the addresses it just kept coming back not found.

I am staying at the following hotel:

SpringHill Suites Orlando Convention Center/International Drive Area
8840 Universal Boulevard
Orlando , FL 32819

I've put in the details, and I was given two options for the airport, and chose the first one, and then got the following:

START TRIP LINK 42 Schedule Route Map
Bus Stop 9000 AIRPORT BLVD, ORLANDO 32827 Location Map
DESTINATION
Bus Stop 8500 INTERNATIONAL DR, ORLANDO 32819 Location Map
@ Cross Street AUSTRIAN CT

Do the bus stops have numbers? - If so, how would I know which stop is the one I want ?

Thanks again
Daniel

There are no numbers on the bus stops. Some drivers will be nice enough to let you know, but not all of them.

You might want to look into a Mears shuttle. If will be a few dollars more but a LOT more convenient. It's the better part of an hour and a half by Lynx from the airport to the Convention Center area. It only leaves the airport every 30 minutes, so if you just miss a bus, it will take you two hours from the time you get to the airport bus station until you get off. And you still have to make your way from the bus stop to your hotel.

The LYNX buses are not designed to carry luggage, no bays underneath, and if the bus is crowded the driver could refuse to let you on with a lot of bags.

Why would you want to take a local bus system out of Orlando International. Because it is cheap? I would find other ways to save money than that. The system is slow, the riders are not the upper crust and there is no provisions to store your luggage. I think you go downtown Orlando before you head up to International Drive. Not a good way to start a vacation.

Route 42 has no transfers between MCO and The outlets at the south end of I-Drive, but it is a long route that starts on Sand Lake, swings down Oakridge, and finally ends at Premiere Outlets. It's definitely a long, cumbersome route, and I agree, some of the riders on that route aren't going to be the most desirable people to sit next to.

OK, I might go for a shuttle then ;)

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

Is Mears the best one to go for in terms of airport shuttle services from MCO ?

Thanks

Mearts is pretty much the only player in town for a shuttle, if you want to take a car service there are a lot of options. How many are traveling? Do'nt use Mears for car service, they are VERY expensive for private transport. If there are three or more, a car service will likely be less expensive, I use Lorden, google Lorden Transportation for details.

There is just two of us travelling.

Thanks

The Mears shuttle straight to your hotel will by far be the cheapest option, it should be around $25 per person round trip.
