My son will be traveling with a friend in July. They are going to Disney on a day that his AP is blocked out. Does anyone know how much it will be for him to enter the park on a blocked out day using his AP?
Do they still offer a discounted ticket to AP holders on block out days?

I can't find anything on the Disney site.

Thank you

They don't offer a discount. He'll have to pay the full price of a 1 day ticket or a 1 day hopper. Depending on what level of AP he has, it may make more sense to upgrade. Even if the higher level pass is also blocked on that day he could still ask for a blockout exception pass. Or if his pass expires within 40 days of when he's going he can renew and ask for a blockout exception as well.

They no longer offer "black out" passes. He will have to purchase a ticket at full cost.

Thank you :) Debating if I want upgrade his AP (it will be more than a single day park hopper ticket) just to get the photopass downloads.

Also consider the difference in discount rates. Since you mentioned photopass I assume you will be going to Signature. So that would be an extra 5% dining and 10% merchandise. And Free parking (he just needs to be in the car).

Depending on exactly when he will be visiting, if you will only be upgrading for PhotoPass, you might want to consider buying Max Pass (assuming it is up and running) instead. That will include digital FP as well as PP for an introductory price of $10. Max Pass is rumored to roll out sometime in July.

If he already has a Deluxe, there aren't that many blocked days in July. Can he possibly redirect his friend to a different day? Maybe offer to buy him lunch if they go the day before or after that isn't blocked instead.

I would be upgrading for him to go to the park for one day when is AP is blocked and for the PhotoPass. We are going again in August so the Photopass would be a plus for both trips (the friend trip for him and the family trip for us).

He is going with a friend and his family for a week. With travel time and other stuff they have no choice but to go on a blackout day. :(

I noticed the extra discounts and that will play into my final decision. We are taking a trip in August and that extra savings will be nice. ;)

Given that you're going in August and the upgrade to his pass would give parking and photo pass if it were me, I'd do the upgrade. Parking is $21, Photopass + is $69 for a week or $39 per day. Seems like it would be worth it. I personally wouldn't hang my hat on Maxpass. The details are ridiculously vague.

Pretty sure I am going to just upgrade my sons AP. The Photopass part is what does it for me. We live out of state so parking isn't a big deal for us. We stay offsite but within walking distance.

Thank you everyone for your help and insight. :)

Just FYI, he can only get the larger discounts on food and merchandise if HE pays, either with cash or a gift card, or a credit card in his own name. They are cracking down hard core on the discounts. You won't be able to use his AP for the larger discounts if you are paying.

If he will be getting his discount for the whole family, the easiest thing would be to put the money for meals and souvenirs on gift cards, then have him hand his AP, I.D. (CMs check to see if the pass and I.D. match), and gift card to the CM. If you are at a store and you are holding the gift card, hand it over before you get to the register. CMs don't always like to see the hand off happen right in front of them. Some CMs get quite huffy about it.

Or get add a card to one of your accounts with his name on it, but don't give him the card other than at the register. You could even cut it up after the trip.
