Has anyone every had problems with keeping an existing res. and using a new AP discount on a package. Could I possible lose my MK-view at GF if I want to use an AP code??:surfweb::surfweb:

If there is no availability for that room type @ that resort for your dates, you may not be able to apply the code. So yes, it's possible that you would have to change rooms to use the discount.

Many people find that room availability for AP discounts is limited to only select views/room types per resort. If your current room type isn't available then yes you could lose your view in order to use an AP rate. You have to decide which is more important; your view or AP rate. I totally understand wanting to do an AP rate in order to not have to buy tickets to buy the dining plan, but you might have to switch room types to do so.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread. So with the limited amount of rooms, is it likely you'd have to choose simply a different view, or is it likely you'd have to change hotels? OR get completely shut out?

Also, it's stated that there are some black out dates within the discounted period. Are these likely to be holidays or random days?

Right now, I'm hoping for an AP discount. Based on historical info, I think they're likely to offer a discount for when we go. Now I'm just wondering how difficult it would be to apply the discount.)

It could be any of the 3 scenarios you mention, or none.

As for blackout days - yes, often holidays, but there are other times as well. AP discounts are meant to fill rooms that might otherwise sit empty. If bookings are already where Disney wants them to be, they might not offer the AP discount for certain times. No different than the other codes - I know FD is not available for some (odd-seeming) dates throughout the fall that are not an actual holiday. It works the same with AP rates.

Mousesavers.com keeps a list of historical discount offers, what dates they were good for, when they were released, etc. You might want to look there and see what has been historically offered, just for a general idea. (maybe you've already done that based on what you posted, though).

Thank you for your help, we do have a great package with FD and MK view at GF. With 7 on the res. you try to save when you can. DH is much happier when the bill is less.

I have a question; I am a new passholder and don't know how the discounts work. I was going to book my room plus dining (paid not free) if a discount comes out how will they apply it? To the total or do they separate the room from the dining plan and discount the room only?

It will be a room discount only. You can get AP room rates and dining added on package.
