They don't allow two half days because then people wouldn't buy the hopper and the point is to keep you on disney property more days. Doing this have made it cost prohibitive to do a half disney half universal vacation for example. Because its much cheaper to add more disney days then it is to add a few days at another park. That is the goal. But it's also cheaper to disallow upgrading ticket rules (bridging and using blackout days to APs with blackout days), but they allow that.
Point is, you could enter the park the next day with that ticket. So, they don't allow two half days, but will allow two full days for the same price.
Doesn't make sense to me.

Letting you upgrade isn't really a disadvantage because if they didn't let you upgrade you probably just wouldn't add more on and stick to the original plan. I fyou couldn't add on water park and more you probably just wouldn't go to the water park and they would lose the uprgrade money for example.
You can say that its an unfair rule and yeah from the standpoint of disney is only doing that to get more money yeah it probably isn't but they are a business and your choices are agree or don't get the product. I don't think its fair for a business to charge the prices Disney does for Soda when they barely pay anything for it but that doesn't mean they can't charge that. Just that I think its stupid and don't get soda.
