Using an extra sheet on beds

Does anyone either take along or request an extra sheet so that you can "triple sheet" the bed, so that you won't have to sleep touching an unwashed blanket or comforter???

If I bring my own sheets will the maid think it is "theirs" and take it away? Is there any problem requesting an extra flat sheet for each bed?

Thank you!

I want to know also. With some topic on bed bugs....I defintely would love to bring my own sheets.

Don't forget to bring some clorox wipes..to wipe bathroom and phone...i got a whole list of things to wipe down..if you want it.

I always wipe everything down, stay at Concierge for the double sheets but to be honest if the fear is that bad no one would go away.. I remeber the yr a big Palamato bug or as I call them **** roahes dropped from the ceiling at ASM, you can bet your bippie I didn't bring my luggage in the house, took it all out of the suitcase outside, made sure I shaked every piece of clotheing and put it right in the wash.:D

Thanks ECUGrad and Gail,

I'm just going to assume that they won't steal my sheets and I will go ahead and bring two flat queen sheets.

I'm really not that paranoid about germs, but the thought of a hotel blanket all up around my neck and face just gives me the shivers, and of course it's worse with the children along.

Asking for an extra top sheet is one of the best suggestions I ever got from the boards. I have done this at a range of hotels (haven't been to DW since I saw the idea) but I can't imagine that any place would say no. I don't ask them to add them to the bed, just ask for the sheets (one for each bed, we need 2) and put them on myself. Seems too easy compared to bringing your own sheets.

Hi all,

Instead of going through the trouble of taking your own sheets and making your own bed, why not pull the blanket off and tell housekeeping you want new blankets? If they give you a hard time, tell them they smell unclean and you want new ones.

If you don't think that's enough, spill soda on them, blame your kids, and then they will have to replace them.

Jand DMom,
I don't have much faith that the blankets they would bring me would be freshly washed. It seems dumb that they would have a bunch of dirty blankets floating around, but at the same time they almost never wash them.

Mississippian-

I understand what you are saying and totally believe you. I also wanted to let you know when I stayed at the Dolphin last November, the maids were changing blankets on the beds, and the clean blankets were wrapped in plastic. I have seen this before in many hotels. Sheets, however, are another issue.

If you bring your own sheets and housekeeping services the room, they will take your sheets. I think they don't even look. If you put something really obvious like red or black they won't make the beds. Just like if you leave personal belongings on your bed, they won't make the bed.

So if you want your own sheets you will either have to remove and replace them daily or not get room housekeeping daily.

When we have brought an extra "blankie" when the kids were little the maids would take it off the bed and fold it up and leave it on top of the bed rather than make the bed with it on.
