Please no one flame me but I have a question on an unused AP ticket. My husband and I went to Universal late last year and on our last day we upgraded his ticket at the hotel to a seasonal AP. He has not used it to go through the turnstiles at any park though it does have his name printed on it. We will not be returning this year so would our son be able to use it if he goes this year.

I upgraded mine the day before and when I used it to go through the turnstiles the next day they had to reset it for my finger scan. So I am assuming they would have to do the same since my husbands has not been used.

If not activated, should be valid
If it was never used to go thru the gates

Best to contact guest services and get the low down from them

You can call customer service or log into passholder site to see what they say for expiration date.

They did have to reset mine (hadn't used since upgrade on the trip before) but they did ask for ID before they reset the fingerprint scan. if they have the same name, it might work. otherwise, I don't think they will allow it.

You may encounter a problem. Since the AP has your husband's name on it and the finger scan needs to be checked, they will ask for ID. The ID needs to match. So unless your husband and son have the same name, you are probably out of luck.

Even if they don't check ID the first time because the fingerprint is being set for the first time, if he ever has an issue in the future with the fingerprint not working, they will compare IDs on the card with his. If it doesn't match, they will accuse him of using a card that isn't his and the card can be taken away.

The ap was upgraded from a ticket your husband used? If so that ap is your husband's and your son is not eligible to use it.

No one will flame you here
This is a good group of posters and none get on a high horse here

But we can not circumvent ways that are against park policies

If someone buys tickets and upgrades them to an ap, then that is the person that can use them

Not possible to share an ap

Suggest you contact guest service if you want to have an exception to the policy and let son be swapped to that unused ap

Decision like that would be made by a supervisor in guest services

All you can do is contact and discuss it with them

They have guidelines but they do have the right to make exceptions

Let's hope you can be gifted with mummy dust and enjoy the parks !

Thank you for all the answers. They do have the same name so that's why I was asking.
