Does anyone know if you can take your stroller into a restaurant if you have a stroller as wheelchair GAC? Has anyone done it? We will be going to Askershus, Hollywood & Vine, Crystal Palace, Tusker House, and Coral Reef. It would just be so much easier if we could do it! I know the restaurants are crowded though and everything seems to point to a no answer here. :upsidedow

Guest Assistance Cards are used for attractions, not restaurants.

Since those are full service restaurants where you will check in with a host/hostess, I would just ask nicely if you can bring the stroller into the restaurant with you. They do sometimes allow people with sleeping babies to bring their strollers in, if there is room and it's not busy.
So, the answer is maybe, but I would not count on it and would expect not to be allowed.
They do have high chairs of various kinds at the restaurants if that would help you.

My DD uses a manual wheelchair. Her latest chair is a high end version...you can tell it's a personal chair and not a rental. When we were at Tusker House last time, they were having strollers park at the bottom of the hill. The guy at the check in counter asked if DD could park her wheelchair down there too...but he didn't give us any problems when we said she had to stay in it. The irony was that the restaurant was super slow so there was plenty of room. Just be prepared for that.

Some of it might depend on the size of your stroller and how crowded the restaurant is. Crystal Palace is a tight fit. Depending on where you are seated at Coral Reef there may be room. Haven't been to the others, so not sure there.

Is your child able to walk ? If so, and it is not too painful for them to be out of the stroller, I would have them walk. Else, explain to the hostess that the stroller is being used a wheelchair and the child is unable to get out of it.

I recently did a trip in my personal wheelchair and at each table service restaurant I was asked if I could walk/transfer from where they wanted me to leave the wheelchair. One exception was Citricos where I was wheeled to the table and then the host went and parked the chair. It was returned when our meal was finished. So they don't want even adult wheelchairs unless they are necessary.

We did see one or two people eating in their wheelchair, one obviously dependent on the various support items attached to the chair. It wouldn't hurt to ask if you had a good reaon to bring the stroller in with you.

At some places we have taken our stroller and they removed a chair and we rolled it as far under the table as we could so that we could keep our sons medical supplies near. Most places will help you out if it is possible. We have been to a few places where there was just not enough room. At those places they let us take the stroller to the table and transfer our son and then the host took it for us and then brought it back when we got ready to leave.

I wasn't allowed to bring my stroller tagged as a wheelchair into Garden Grill or Tutto Gusto. The host brought the manager over at Tutto Gusto when I told him I thought it should be treated as a wheelchair and allowed in, and the manager said no due to the fire code. We made do without it, but it would have been easier if it was okay.

'Ohana and Sanaa allowed it in. It's the luck of the draw I think.
