Using a Gift Card to purchase other GC (?)

Does anyone know - can I use an Albertsons or CVS gift card (for example) to purchase other gift cards?

Here's my tentative plan - will it work? I see Coinstar will count my change for free if I convert it to a select group of gift cards, including Albertsons and CVS. Could I use these cards to purchase a Disney Gift Card?

BTW - Coinstar will also convert to Amazon and iTunes, among others...so it's not hopeless if I can not wind up with a Disney Card.

This is not allowed, at least at CVS. At Christmas I tried to buy Starbuck's GC with a free $25 GC I got for filling a prescription. The register was programmed to not allow it.

I would just get a grocery store card, buy your groceries and put the savings on a gift card.

Bummer....although - that was a "free" gift card, a promotion to get you to have a prescription filled. I can see where they would not want the monetary value going to someone else's profit margin.

I am talking about a gift card that was effectively purchased with cash (or coins, in this case) but someone has to pay the fee to Coinstar, the GC issuer presumably, so maybe that same restriction will apply.

I guess I will have to go over there and check it out at the service desk.

I did go into the store and ask. Two supervisors weighed in, and they both said yes, it would be just like cash - except for Visa and Mastercard gift cards, and Nordstrom, those three require real cash dollars for purchase. I wasn't going to argue that they just told me the gift cards were just like cash - I figured claim a victory and move on.

I haven't tried it yet, so take that information with a grain of salt. I will post again after I try it - thinking I will start with a small amount so if it doesn't work out, I won't be stuck with a huge Albertson's gift card.

I noticed that they didn't have Disney gift cards, but they did have tickets and annual passes for purchase. The clerk told me that other Albertsons have a much greater selection and might have whatever I was looking for.

In other news, the supervisor that was called over asked if I was going to do it today (no, because I wanted to make sure it would work first) and she said that tomorrow, 6/16, they would be starting a Disney promotion. She didn't have any details - so stand by for that report.

I purchased a Macy's gift card online and paid for it with another Macy's gift card. Actually I used two gift cards to pay. One was a gift card I got from My points and the other was a gift card I had for returning some items for store credit. I wanted to send someone a wedding gift and didn't want to send two partial gift cards. So it works at Macys anyway for macys cards. That probably doesnt' help though! Sorry!

DD12 has a target giftcard she's been trying to spend. She only has $17-$15 on it(she had two $50 giftcards). She's not into toys and she has lots of clothes so we wonder if she can buy an itunes giftcard. She will use that up pretty quickly-lol! We didnt ask because we didnt think about it until we got home. Anyone know if it can be done??????

Yes, I did get it through a promotion, but their was nothing about the gift card that was special, AFAIK!
