Using a different guide to add on direct points? Advice wanted...

My husband and I attended a DVC presentation on our cruise in July. Later in the summer, we received a follow up call from a guide. I told her we were about to close on a resale contract, but we would be interested in adding on a small contract direct after everything was finalized. Once we received our membership number, I contacted her again to see if she could find us about 30 points at either BWV or BCV. We've since decided we want BCV, but since there is no wait list, I have been checking in with her about once a week to see if there are any points available in our use year (Oct.).

So far, there's been no luck in about 2 months of waiting. Lately, it's taking her a long time to respond to my emails and since I am 35 weeks pregnant, I am getting impatient. I really wanted to get this wrapped up before the baby comes.

Anyway, my question is, is it possible to call DVC and see if another guide would be able to help us or do we need to keep working with the same guide? At this point, I just don't feel like the one we've been working with has responsive enough. I know that BCV is very hard to get, so I'm wondering if it's even worth it to call someone else.

Thanks for any advice you can give!

So we just purchased resale and the guide they assigned us is the guy we met with on the dream earlier this year. I called him trying to get an add on and he is at sea and can not be reached. I called DVC and explained that my guide couldn't be reached and they sent me to another guy who helped us out.

You can change guides but think about it, spend time trying to fill a request for 25 points at a sold out resort or spend time closing 200 point contracts. If you were a guide, which would you do, especially if you get paid for points sold?

I'm sure the bigger contracts are the priority, but that doesn't mean I should be ignored. I assume it doesn't take long to check on availability, and it takes all of 30 seconds to email me back saying there's nothing. The no wait list thing is really annoying, and just creates more work for guides and potential buyers.

BCV and VGF have about the same situation when it comes to direct purchases, where there isn't an official waitlist for the resort. After our first time calling back in spring of 2016 we were put on our former guides unofficial waitlist which gave us time to research resale contracts and ended up buying a resale contract shortly after that call. Of course right before we passed ROFR our former guide calls with the points we wanted, which was about a month after our first call. At the time we didn't think we want the "benefits" so we declined the direct points. But this summer we decided to buy some more points direct for the benefits and got the same line from our former guide, so after our first call this summer, I cold called the DVC line and was connected to another guide who seemed a more responsive and ended up buying direct points through him, but it take take a little nagging and took over a month to get the points. The funny thing is that they have the same first name, so it got a little confusing when talking to them.

So, my advice would be to give it a least a month and a half before maybe switching guides because there really isn't anything that they can do to come up with the points. But if you feel neglected, just cold call the DVC line and chat with the CM that answers and ask for the points.

Good luck with the direct purchase and the new addition to your family!

I understand your frustration but money drives Disney and their employees. There isn't a waitlist because DVD doesn't make enough money selling those resorts. In fact sales are focused on the new resorts only where more money is to be made and DVD needs to justify to Iger why they need to keep building. Guides are not allowed to use email for sales related communication but some do. Now if new sales slowed, the guides would be bugging you to buy, DVD would ROFR a ton of contracts, and they would offer all kinds of incentives. When we bought BLT, we got a free 7 day Disney cruise as an incentive.
