Using a Debit card

Please bare with me. I am a cruise newbie. I'am going to use my debit card for my upcoming cruise. Do they charge you the day your excursion occurs or on the last day of your cruise? Are tips paid on the last day of your cruise or at the end of the day. Is there anything different Disney Cruise handles debit cards than credit cards? Any other things i should know about using my debit card? Appreciate the help.

Port adventures are charged ( they actually place a hold for the full amount) the day before so if you were scheduled to arrive at Nassau for a port adventure tomorrow (if you were onboard already) you will be charged today. I don't think debit cards are handled any different from credit cards. I normally place my debit card on file but settle my account with gift cards. I also always pre pay my gratuities so I am unsure as to when they actually charge those to your account.
