Definitely a good idea about the second opinion. When I go back for my post-op checkup, I'll ask about the Synvisc, and why he thinks I'm too young for replacements.
Part of his hesitation may be because I have some kind of auto-immune connective tissue disease or inflammatory disorder. I've been battling it for the past seven years. Multiple rheumatologists with multiple diagnosis. Very frustrating. My original rheum moved away, and I haven't been able to find one I like since. I did see a new guy two weeks ago, and he seems like he really wants to get to the bottom of what's going on. Asked my knee doc to send off synovial fluid for cell count and biopsy, and sent me for films of my sacroiliac joints, which apparently is the first joint to show signs of a certain arthritis. Why did no else else do that?
