Quick Question...didn't see a good answer when I seached....but who knows (you should see me trying to find my socks!)

We'll be at the parks maybe 4-5 days.

So if we purchased a 7 day MYW base ticket can we do something like this:

Day 1 - use Day 1 tickets at MK
Day 2 - use Day 2 ticket at MK (morning)
- use Day 3 tickets at Epcot (afternoon)
Day 3 - use Day 4 ticket at AK
Day 4 - use day 5 tickets at DHS (morning)
Day 5 - use day 6 tickets at AK (Afternoon)

this isn"t our exact schedule buy you get the idea

using the base tickets as a hopper (might as well buy the seven day as it is practically the same price>

thanks everyone

Correct - you have to purchase a park hopper. You can not use multiple days of your ticket to enter into two separate parks on the same day.

If you get a 7 day park pass without park hopper the only way you are going to use the 7 days is if you go to the parks 7 days. If you go to 2 parks in one day, you don't get the option to consider that 2 days. Disney is smarter than that. If you want to move around from park to park, the only way your doing it is if you have the park hopper.

Sorry there is no way around it - if you want to hop you have to pay for a hopper.

The PPs are all correct. Here is a great explanation of the process from Cheshire Figment's sticky on tickets.

A. I have a base ticket for eight days, although I will only be spending six days in the Parks. The day I have for Animal Kingdom I also have a dinner reservation at Epcot. May I use one of my “extra” days for evening admission to Epcot?

A base ticket is one major (theme) park per day. You are allowed to re-enter the same park if you leave it on one day, but it can only be used at the one park.

Note that the ticket will state on it either "Not Valid For Park Hopping" or "One Theme Park Per Day". That should be a hint.

If you put the ticket in the turnstile of another park the display on the Guest side of the turnstile will be "ACCESS DENIED". The top line of the display on the Greeter side will give information about the ticket, and the second line of the display will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". The turnstile will not unlock.

This is because Disney charges $3.00 per day over four days on an adult ticket, but charges $52 to allow hopping. It does not make economic sense for Disney to allow this.

If you actually have multiple tickets (more than one physical ticket per person) as opposed to multiple day tickets, you can use these tickets for multiple entries. But it makes absolutely no economic sense as a separate ticket costs a lot more than adding hopping to a ticket.

This is one of the most commonly asked questions on the DIS. Here is the link to the ticket sticky - it will probably answer any other ticketing question you might have:

Welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

wow you guys are fast (and super smart!). Thanks for the reply.

We weren't really trying to figure out how to bypass the whole hopper option, just seeing if we could get the max out of the days we buy regardless if we will be there or not.

That Mickey guy is one smart cookie.

Maybe we'll take a serious look at our schedule and see how many days we'll actually go to the parks and just get that many days.

Anyway.....Drakestar Out....thanks for the help.

If you decide to add the hopper option, it is a flat fee of about $55 per person (including tax), regardless of the number of days on your ticket or the number of days you hop. You can add it at any time within 14 days of your first use of your tickets. If you decide to hop one day, you can add it at guest services of your second park. No need to add it in advance if you think you might not use it.

Depending what time of year you go, you might find it useful if some parks close early (AK closes as early as 5:00 during some times of the year). If you go when the park have long hours, you might not need it. We always get the hopper option, but many don't. :goodvibes

I say don't upgrade to a hopper until you are about to actually hop! Hubby and I have AP's and got our kids base passes. We upgraded them to hoppers once we got to WDW which was a total waste of money since we wound up not really hopping!!! We finally hopped from Epcot to Mk just to get some money's worth out of the hopper option!! Don't pay to hop until the hop is about to happen!!!

I agree. You may find that you don't need it. I upgraded my kids & grandkids tickets to hoppers, and we only hopped once. Could have done without them, but they have 10-day non-expiring tickets, so they may well need the hoppers on a future trip.

thanks for the info! i guess i need to talk dh into getting park hoppers or try to go to parks on the first and last day now...:confused3

No need to convince him. Let him convince you not to try to hop since when you get to the second park he will have to add the hopping feature for you.
