Using $500 gift card for an AP

Has anyone used the $500 gift card given when joining DVC to purchase AP's thru the DVC member website. When I was on the site it appeared that you could only pay by credit card or use the rewards card dollars from the Disney Visa.

I just used my $500 gc to but my AP and DDE card in April. I just bought them both at the ticket window at the International gateway by BCV. It only took 5 minutes and that gate is never very crowded.

my $500 GC came in the form of a VISA $500 GC so I don't see why I couldn't apply that to my balance since it is a CC.
