A watermelon is not technically a melon, in science's eyes. Its more of a gourd.

But, like a tomato, a watermelon grows like a fruit. A watermelon acts like a fruit.

The Cucurbitaceae family is considered vegetables and thus the watermelon is classed as a vegetable, which is its binomial nomenclature.

But botanically, watermelon is an ovary of the plant.

Watermelons are fruit. The only dispute comes from its scientific name and the way that growers mass produce them (using vegetable set ups to grow them)
