Just a guess on my part, but they probably are still offering the more limited concierge and only a small lounge area. When the 12th floor is complete, they'll have the enhanced concierge, plus a full lounge that will overlook the MK. :goodvibes

Tammi I think you are 100% correct. Thats what I meant above but I should clarify it.

Would someone who has been on the 14th floor rather be there in the old rooms or have limited concierge service in a rehabbed room onthe 10th

I've never been in either :sad1: so i can't say.

To tell you the truth I have been trying to figure that out too. We have reservations for a suite on the 14th floor in Sept. Have been trying to figure out if I should bump down to the 10th floor and get the free dinning. Can't get the free dinning on the 14th floor plus if the rooms are new. What's a person to do? Too many decisions.

I am happy to report, That Yacht Club concierge has gotten all my PS's and requests. Including....

THE ILLUMINATIONS CRUISE... I am so happy to be able to treat my dad to this... now just to keep it a secret!!!! :jumping1:

twinmomplus2new ~ Make sure when you check in that you let the CM at the concierge desk know that it's a surprise for your dad. (Naturally - send dad away while you're checking in! :rotfl: ) We had an "Un-Birthday" Illuminations cruise booked as a surprise for our three DSs for the fourth night of our stay last October. We let the CMs at the desk know when we checked in that it was going to be a surprise and they all seemed to have the best time "keeping" the secret! And when we returned from the cruise there was a message from one of the CMs for the boys asking if they enjoyed their special "Un-Birthday Cruise!"

Good luck keeping the secret. I know you'll enjoy the cruise!!

Well I just got back from my Contemporary concierge stay. Here is my input, w/o going into the whole story...
We arrived at the time I provided to concierge staff(Magical Express was GREAT!). I notified valet that we needed help getting up to the 14th floor and they called for us. We waited w/ great anticipation... and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally I asked a cast member who looked like she may be concierge staff (she had a clipboard). She was not concierge staff but was helpful as far as calling 14th floor again and she used her key to give us 14th floor elevator access. She informed us that valet was supposed to take us up (that didn't seem right to me but I was just happy to be going upstairs). When we got upstairs we received a lukewarm welcome w/ no apologies for the delay. Checkin in proceeded fine until I was told that our room was on the lagoon side. I explained that I requested MK view and the reservationist told me it was GUARANTEEED if I paid the extra $150 per night for 14th floor. I was intrigued by the concierge service so I thought I would try it out since we were celebrating DS's bday and it was only a 4 night stay. My boys love watching the MK and monorails from the room so the MK view was a top prioity for us. The concierge told me I was given incorrect info, no apology offered. Not that it was her fault, I understand, I just would have felt better I guess if I felt that there was any concern for my disappointment. Anyway, they did offer to switch me back to MK side when a room was available the next afternoon but I simply did not want to take the time to repack and unpack on a short trip...I asked if we could be moved to 12th floor w/ MK view and that is what we ended up doing. The morning staff there was quite helpful and genuinely pleasant ( I forwarded a compliment to the manager when I left) otherwise I felt that concierge service was a waste of money. On the 12th floor you get the continental breakfast (nice but if you got there too late you missed out on selection) otherwise it was basically snacks and sodas.
I did politely express my dissatisfaction to the manager, not looking for anything, just wanted to let them be aware. My husband and I are NOT complainers so for us to say anything is a big deal. The manager did offer us access to 14th floor for the evening service but we needed to ask someone to key us up. We took advantage once and really found it just okay. I guess for an extra $150 a night we had much higher expectations...On a good note the 12th floor did do a nice job putting the cake/balloons/card in the room for DS's bday. :)

4DisneyAddicts - did you get a credit from the CR for your stay since you basically downgraded from the 14th floor concierge to the 12th?

I did get the 12th floor for the 12th floor price, which did make the final total a little easier to handle! It was $90 cheaper a night and the kids got to see the monorails over the balconies into the concourse (a few months ago when I found out the 14th floor was closed off I almost did change to the 12th floor because of that reason but wanted to keep my "guaranteed" MK view.) This was actually better for that reason.

That's a relief. As long as you were happy and you got what you paid for, that's what counts! It would have been worse if you "settled" and paid the higher price.

4DisneyAddicts, I'm sorry that things didn't work out as you expected. With so few rooms/guests on the 14th floor, I too would have anticipated very personal service.

It still amazes me sometimes that DIS'ers seem to have more information than some CM's. For instance, we could have told you that there is no guaranteed view on the 14th floor. Half the rooms are on the lagoon side and the other the MK. Because there are so few rooms though, it's been reported here that your room view is assigned when you book your room. It's too bad that it wasn't confirmed by the IPO staff so you would have known prior to arrival.

Except for the King bed rooms....the only 2 face the MK.

I meant overall as I didn't know what type of room the poster had booked. Out of the 16 rooms on that floor, 9 face the MK and 7 face the lagoon.

Poster also mentioned being moved to the 12th floor, so I guess we'll have to wait a little bit longer for a 10th floor rehabbed update.

Tammi, Lets not forget the other way to guarantee yourself a MK view....book the presidential suite!!! :teeth:

Here's something strange. I have friends going with us to Disney within the next month. Her 14th floor room confirmation letter says "Guarantee MK view". She has booked a queen bed room not the king,

We'll have to plan a trip together then and split the cost!

That's what I've read here on the boards. Because there are so few rooms, when you make your reservation, they actually assign your room number right then and there. Your friend will have room number 4913 or 4915 then.

My confirmation letter says 1 bedroom suite with MK view. I'm going to be upsett if I don't get the MK view. That is one of the reason that I decided to stay on the 14th floor instead of the 12th because of guaranteed MK view.

ROBINSON - We stayed in a one bedroom 14th floor MK suite last Thanksgiving week.

They do charge more for the MK view vs. the lake view when it is a suite - so you will know by the per night cost.

I know you were maybe wondering about switching to the new rooms on the club floor and doing the free dining. I wish I would have known then what I know now regarding the state of the suites on the 14th floor. Ours was SHABBY and GRUNGY. We had the suite at the end of the hall closest to the MK.

I am not too picky, but when you are paying over $1200/night I think you should get a room that doesn't have black mold, caving in tile ceilings, dirty walls, OLD microwave in bar area, peely "wood" furniture, threadbare upholstery, no DVD player (OK there was a VHS, but WHO brings VHS tapes??), torn wallpaper.....

Hopefully you aren't going during a busy season and you can switch rooms if necessary. That wansn't the case for us.

This was my experience and I was very disappointed as the 14th floor gets such praise on these boards.

OH.......Thanks for the heads up. Think I will call this am and see if the free dinning is available for the 12th floor. Wish I could see our room and see if it is the same one you had. Don't feel like spending the amount of $ we are spending for a yucky room. I took the suite because of the guaranteed MK view. We went last Sept and stayed on the 12th floor. We had a wonderful time with a MK view. We are going again this Sept. Per a CM there is no other availablity on the 14th floor.

ROBINSON - We have stayed on the 12th floor about 20 times over the past 12 yrs or so and always just loved it. We have had the MK view all but one time (during spring break) and they moved us as soon as a room opened up.

I know the 14th gets so much praise on these boards, but I was extremely disappointed with it. EXTREMELY. And we are a family that does love the CR. I made up my mind during that stay that we wouldn't be staying at the CR until the rehab was complete.

Good luck in whatever you decide. We had some of the same check in issues that 4DisneyAddicts had, also. It wasn't our best CR stay, that's for sure.

When are you going in Sept because we received the free dining plan on the 14th floor?

I'm jealous that you were able to get the free dinning. We are going the last week in September. CM said we could not get free dinning because we were staying in a suite.

What "views" do you get at WL concierge? Is there a view of MK that we can request? Or is there a specific room anyone suggests?
