steveanddonna ~ Thanks for the update on Marc. I'm so happy for him! I hope we'll get a chance to see him when we're at the POLY in October.

Thanks so much! Yes...we can make a light meal as well as that is how we prefer to eat...nothing heavy in the evening....I cant wait to get there!

Mahalo Plenty SteveandDonna!!

:hourglass Thank you Donna, I am now counting the time until we can fly to the comfort of Polynesian splender. :flower:

What a wonderful report you have given us. I do have one question. What do they serve during their evening hours? Some of us really look forward to a little sweet item with an after dinner drink before retiring.

I am looking forward to your report on the meet.

Mahalo and Aloha,

SeaSpray, I can't answer the soda question as to types (more specific than Coke products), 'cuz I don't drink it, but canned soda was available either on a tray on the counter or by request from a CM at various times of day. Iced tea, lemonade, orange-guava juice, and Vittel water were available throughout the day, as well as the beverages from the espresso machine and chocolate milk by request.

Breakfast seemed pretty much the same as on our previous trips, with croissants, danish, bagels, pineapple bread, a selection of cold cereals, fruit (both cut and whole), milk (whole & skim), condiments (peanut butter, cream cheese, butter, margarine, jelly) all available. Yogurt, instant oatmeal, wheat bread and apple juice were available by request. The afternoon snacks also remain pretty much the same. Offerings included whole fruit, gummi candies, Runts, mixed nuts and goldfish crackers, plus the addition of a new item, hummus with mini-pitas.

As you can see, contrary to some other threads/posts, it didn't seem that Poly CL has cut back, but rather changed varieties and sometimes presentation.

Thanks so much!! I really appreciate it :sunny:

The CMs were great, eeyoresmountainpals, but then, I am quite biased, so many of them have become like a second family to me over the years. There were lots of familiar faces and a few new ones. One young woman, Alex, was a real standout, strong on enthusiasm and cheer. The resort was quite busy, but during the slower mid-morning times many of the CMs, knowing I was on my own for a big chunk of my trip, made a point of taking time to chat and inquire how things were going.

Angel16, I only made it back to the lounge once for desserts, and can only remember 3 of the items - key lime tartlets, mini-eclairs, and petit fours. There were 2 or 3 other varieties of sweets. I remember seeing Bailey's, Grand Marnier, Kahlua and Courvoisier at the end of the counter, though I was far too tired to indulge. Ooh, now I'm hungry!

Gotta stop talking about the Poly, or I'll be on a plane to MCO before I can stop myself!

I know that you good folks on this thread will be able to help me make our decision. Here's the facts (and nothin' but the facts :goodvibes ):
Cast includes me, DH, DS8, DS6 and DS3. Going to WDW Nov. 19-26. Currently have ressies for Contemporary 12th floor. Considering a switch to BC concierge. What would you do?

We like the Epcot resort area a lot and that is why we are considering the change. The only problem is that only "garden" views are available. We like the idea of having "full" concierge, but are we going to get stuck with a room with only double beds and no balcony? Okay, now I am rambling.

What is the balcony situation at BC? What are the chances of getting one of the dreaded double bed rooms?

Thanks for all your help. Any and all advice is much appreciated. I just can't seem to wrap my brain around all of this.

Don't know a thing about the BC, but we did stay on the 12th floor at the CR in Sept. We had a wonderful time. We have 3 ages 12, 10, and 8. The room was big. We had a MK view. Could lie in bed and watch Wishes. The balcony was huge. Plenty of room for all of us. The breakfast in the am was wonderful. The kids loved it. Mine are older so they went down by themselves to eat while we were still getting ready in the am. The snacks in the afternoon were enjoyed by all. The staff was wonderful. Rooms were cleaned by the time we returned in the early afternoon. Towel animals. I could go on and on.

we had a parking lot view in concierge at BC...it did have a balcony and the room itself was pretty spiffy...

why not try the boardwalk?

That's my suggestion also. A little bit nicer concierge experience than BC and it's full service as opposed to the limited you'd be getting at CR. Of course, if you've got 7 nights planned, I would look into splitting the stay between CR and BW. That would give you the best of both worlds and location location location.

I like how you think! :cool1:

Thanks guys for the input. My DH and I just stayed at BW concierge a few weeks ago. We really liked it, but he is hesitant to stay there with our boys. He felt as if the atmosphere was a little sophisticated for them b/c they are still pretty young. We have tried YC concierge last November and it was fine. I just thought BC might be more up our alley. We have also done split stays the last two and are doing that again in July. The only problem I can forsee is that we are going over Thanksgiving week and if there are going to be any discounts to be had, we need to be checked in as early in the week as possible. Get my drift? If we check into BC on Sat. the 19th and then move over to CR on the Tues, we would be less likely to get a discount due to possible blackout dates.

*Not that I am counting on any discount. It is just always so nice when it happens. :goodvibes

Ah well, still undecided. Does anyone know the balcony situation at BC?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Did you enjoy your BC stay?

The CR does sound great as well. Man, I just know I am going to drive myself crazy over this.

TIA

We stayed BC concierge last Feb. Loved it! But then again, it was our first concierge stay, so I don't have much to judge things by. The staff was great and handled a couple things for us, very friendly and helpful. The lounge is apparently smaller than others and not open at all times, but we didn't find this to be a problem. We had two queen beds and the balcony was over a roof, but you could see the pool and the BW if you looked over to the left. The balcony was not huge. It had a couple chairs and a small table. We were spoiled with an upgrade with a standard room AP rate, so no complaints about the view. Stormalong Bay is so much fun, but you will have to be careful with the little ones as it is huge. BC is our favorite resort.... so far :teeth:

Mickey Fliers... Our family did BC CL for our first family trip last summer and we absolutely loved it! The IPO planning staff couldn't have been more welcoming, gracious and accommodating. We had lots of e-mail and phone contact, they offered all sorts of suggestions, made PSs, arranged in-room gifts and floral deliveries, you name it. We booked a garden view and requested one one the Crescent Lake side with full balcony (no guarantees, just a sincere request). We were dazzled with our room assignment -- full balcony with full lagoon view of the boardwalk (pixie dust galore on that upgrade)! I literally cried with delight when I saw that room and it was an absolute pleasure to return to it every night.

Our family of 5 found the breakfast offerings to be great and we took advantage of that often. I must say we were not adversely impacted by the closing of the lounge between servings... we were on the go all the time and were lucky that on few nights we were able to grab a cordial before the 10 o'clock closing. We all loved the resort, the pool, the rocking chairs, the Crescent Lake view both late at night and early in the morning, hearing the music on the walk to and from World Showcase. We would gladly return to the BC, though I do have wanderlust and would love to check out all the other deluxes too! :goodvibes

You might want to take a look here, http://www.disneyzone.net/bcresort.htm. The plans are alittle dated, but I imagine that all the information regarding balconies is still applicable. If you stayed BW concierge just a few weeks ago, then I wouldn't hesitate to drop an e-mail to Alana, Amy or Angie in the pre-planning department. Let them know you're considering a change to the BC and just had a few questions. I'm sure they'd be happy to help out.

Mickey Fliers: we loved it! It was our first concierge experience so we did not have much to compare but we sorta knew what to expect. Everyone in the lounge was terrific, so many nice people! Only complaint was that there was no real "view" from either our room or the lounge and the space was pretty limited. The services, food, beer :p, and ameneties were great! And we loooooooooved the Mickey Lifeguard lamp! :)

Our cast was very similar to your's on our trip we just returned from. Me, DH, DNephew8-turned 9 on the trip, DS5 and DD3. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at BC which was wonderful. I had originally booked 2 connecting BC LVC because I wanted concierge and the view but our quiet pool view from the villa was fine. It ended up being much less important than I thought. We had a lot of balcony area in the villa. Having the kitchen for a quick breakfast in the morning and washer/dryer was fabulous! So convenient! I loved having only 4 loads of laundry to do when we returned instead of 12! I had groceries delivered with lots of staples and goodies to make up for the concierge. But I found that we didn't need more than lots of drinks, breakfast and a few snacks.

The pool at BC was great. The kids absolutely loved it and it was great for all ages. We love Epcot so being able to walk to Epcot and take a quick boat ride to MGM was wonderful. We ended up spending 2 days in Epcot and still didn't do everything we wanted to do. MGM with ToT and RNR is the favorite for my DN9. So I loved BC because of location, pool and the villa. I really want to try AKL and Poly but I can't imagine not being at BC! We took the bus to AK and MK and those waits were very short.

Just booked BC CL for Sept 30-Oct 5. We have never done the BC CL before.
We have done the YC CL, Poly CL and the BWI CL, YC being the best. Our last stay at the YC CL was our best disney experience ever. I am hoping we are not making a mistake by trying the BC CL instead of the YC CL since we had such a great time at the YC. I am afraid since the lounge is a little smaller at the BC. Does it get packed? Do you know what floor the BC CL lounge is on?

The BC CL lounge in on the 5th floor. As for crowds, we never found problems getting a table for breakfast (there were 5 of us). Could have been because it was late August though and crowds in general were down....

Hello! Let me intro myself: My name is Mary. I'm married (12 yrs) with 3 kids, ages 9, 7, 5. I've been to WDW as young child and we took our first fam trip to WDW in July 2003 -- it was the first for DH and kids! DH absolutely loved it, and now understands my love for WDW.

This time around, we're going to do Poly concierge and we're excited about it. Had I known about concierge before, we'd have done that at the BC. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20, I guess.

We haven't booked our trip for next March yet, but I'm researching and thinking long & hard about it before we make any final decisions. My question to you guys is this (and I hope this is the right board -- ya'll seem like a great group!): would it be "money-wise" to get the MYW Dining plan even though we're getting concierge? I'd love to do the dinner shows, and one (or two?) character meals.

We're not worried about the money -- we just want to get the most bang for our buck.

Any help would be most appreciated! There's sooo much to decide, it can get overwhelming!
