Useful Concierge Information

:cool1: Here I am! Garada, I noticed that Tyler posted the other day and did mention the IPO department is very busy right now. If someone took the time to attach a file though, I think they could have gone that extra step and at least noted their signature line of "Have a Grand Day". Unfortunately, they are not known for their warm & fuzzies, but they do get the job done. For personalized service, I don't think anyone is better than the team at the Epcot resorts. I really wish they would be the ones that all others are measured by. I know that both the CR and GF have two levels of concierge service, but the Epcot staff has been responsible for all 3 of their resorts for some time now.

At this point, as long as your itinerary items are correct, I'd just brush it off. You're going to be in Disney on Saturday  :woohoo: .

Well, I guess I'm not the only one waiting for IPO to call me back.

We booked a trip for the end of May at AKL CL :confused3 and they haven't confirmed the Sunrise Safari yet.

They did send me an e-mail after I contacted them but all the attachments were word documents and I can't open them.

I know they are busy but geez.

Hmm, these blank e-mails are interesting. I wonder if something is wrong with their software?

I've been having very nice, very detailed e-conversations with the Contemporary IPO for several weeks now. One day, I received a reply back from the GF IPO instead, and it was much less friendly (and much less helpful). I'm guessing that my Contemporary "friend" was off that day, but I would have rather waited another day and heard from that person instead of having the GF IPO responding to my e-mail in such a brusque manner. (FWIW, the Contemporary person told me he/she was keeping a log of all future requests, but the GF person merely indicated we were still too far out.)

Hi Floridafam :wave2: Don't give up on AKL. They are a fantastic group of CM's over there. I am so sorry that you have not heard back from them. I would try calling about 1:30 PM Florida time. That seems to be the best time for me to get ahold of a person. There are only three IPO planners there and they cover the 12 hours their open. There recently has been some illness with a member of the IPO staff. I know it does not help you, but it does explain that you have not heard from them.

Hello Everyone!!! We are booked for the 14th floor at CR December 19-26. I just have a few questions, you all seem like experts and I really have no idea what I am doing. So here goes.
The first thing is what is the difference, I hear that the 12th floor is now full concierge so why is there is still a difference in price?

The second question is what is so great about room 4914 at the CR? I want a MK view because my DD (4) talks about Cinderella's castle in her sleep, she can not get enough of it. Does this room have a great view?

I have contacted the CR IPO, I got a really nice email back from Tyler, so I am in the process of beginning to plan some ADR's. I know that we will do Chef Mickeys, do you have any other suggestions DS (2) & DD (4)

Thanks everyone!!

The 12th floor is still under rehab and the concierge level has been temporarily re-located to the 10th floor. When they do move it back, I'm sure you'll see the prices go up, as they'll have the addition of a brand new lounge and balcony. On the 14th floor, they have a very limited number of rooms. In fact, there are only 5 regular concierge rooms and 11 suites. This is going to make it feel very exclusive. Also, it's my understanding that when you book a room on that floor, it's actually blocked for you and you'll know right away if you have an MK view.

Based on the floor plan that I have, room #4914 is a one bedroom suite with three balconies. It's close to the lounge and does offer an MK view.

Thanks so much.
I booked my room on the 14th floor in December. Do you know how I can find out if my room is a MK view. This is all my dd talks about and I would love to tell her if she will be able to see the castle from the room.

Thanks so much.

We have a room booked on the 14th floor in September but we're told there is no MK guarentee! It depends on who is checking out before you as there are so few rooms.

Do you have a regular room or a suite? When we booked last year we knew that we had a king mk view.

Good luck. When we booked the rooms on the 14th floor had codes. It might even be on the CR information thread. When I made our reservation I asked CRO if they had a king MK view room available and it was. I was shocked because I'd been trying to get a room there for a few different trips and thrilled that I got one.

The concierge staff was one of the best that I've experienced.

Of the standard rooms on the 14th floor, there are two categories. There is one with a King bed. There are two of those rooms, and both are MK view.

The other type has two queens. There are three of these rooms, one of which faces Bay Lake. People always seem dissapointed in the Bay Lake view, but it would be my choice. It's very peaceful, scerene, you can see Epcot and IllumiNations, and you still have the lounge to see the MK.

For the suites, the category booked determines MK view or not.

You can e-mail the IPO to find out which view your particular room will have. Sunday is the best day this week to do that. :)

When we stayed at Polynesian last year we received a personalized welcoming packet before our arrival. We arrive at BWI one week from now. I haven't received anything from them or for that matter had any contact with them for a over a month. Do they normally send anything my mail or contact you prior to arrival? TIA

Forgot to let you know over here that I did email Concierge at CR and yes it's right you do have your room blocked, they told me that we are booked into one of the King MK view rooms. I'm so happy. Now they just need to finish the renovations before we get there!!

Congrats :cheer2: and thanks for letting us know that they are still blocking the rooms.

We stayed at BWI in December and did not receive a personalized welcoming packet from them. Maybe this is something unique to the Poly.

JJohnson, we stayed at the YC in 2004 and I know they share the same pre-planning department. We received a manila envelope filled with park maps, recreation guide, resort information and a questionnaire to help plan our vacation. I probably talked to them once a week via e-mail and each change or addition I made, they sent over an updated copy of my itinerary.

We arrive at the Grand FLoridian RPC on Staurday morning.

I emailed the IPO staff yesterday to check on everything, asked for a copy of our itinerary to be emailed to me and requested a non-smoking room on the fourth floor (just a request).

I emailed my requests in a friendly and excited manner, explaining that my DH chose the hotel and that the kids were so looking forward to the trip.

My reply from them was just our itinerary attached to a blank email. No Hello, no looking forward to seeing you Saturday, no thanks for choosing us, nothing! I realize that IPO is seperate from the RPC staff but geez!

Does this indicate that they are super busy? My impression of this is not so good. I hope that this is not indicative of our upcoming vacation.

Reassurances please!

This was also one of the first things I noticed when getting emails from the GF IPO, very to the point with no thank you's, have a nice day anything. We are also staying at the YC and there emails are filled with Welcome, We look forward to see you and just an all around consideration. I realize you are back already and hope you had a wonderful time.

Thank you. I haven't had the same wonderful experience dealing with their planning department as I had read here. Nothing terrible but also no more than would be expected.

It's not that your room is blocked... they only do that 3 days out.

However, that particular room category only has two rooms. Both are identical... Tower Club, king bed, and MK view.
