DisneyTraveler, 10 months notice is a little soon, but it's exciting when it's your first time there. I could be wrong, but I think with the Platinum Plan, you are assigned to one specific pre-planner who specializes in it. They would be able to go over all the benefits and you can work them into your vacation. That will keep you busy for a little while anyway :flower: .

Thanks Tammi,
Lol i guess 10 months was a little to eager . The plan does state that someone from Ipo will contact me within 100 days . Wasnt sure if they would take the infornmation from my itinerary though. :teeth:

Garada,
A bigger concern actually might be getting a room close to the lounge. You can get a lot of hallway traffic and the kids sitting area is right there. It can be a little exciting in the morning.

Then passers-by might not be able to hear my three sons expressing their "admiration" of each other. :earsboy:

Plus activity outside the room might get us moving a bit earlier in the morning!

Thanks for your reply.

I have just booked a stay at the Poly Concierge Dec 2-10 '06. I am very excited...even though it's over a year away.

I wanted to get a couple of opinions...I want to try and do a slower pace this trip...last trip I was like a drill sargent trying to fit everything in. I would like this time to be different. I have 3 kids 10, 8, & 6, me & hubby...has anyone done any of the tours? are they worth it? What other out of the ordinary things are there to do at that time of year?

Also, since I am an uber-planner to the nth degree...does it really work having them make all the adrs for you? Do they automatically do it at the 90th day mark?

Thanks for for the input!!!

Kristine

I have a trip to BWI coming up in December. This is my first stay in concierge and I must say that the planning folks have been great. They have taken care of everything quickly and have gotten us everything we requested (though we haven't requested any of the really tough things like CRT or an Illuminations cruise, but we have made lots of changes). They did seem to do everything right at the 90 day mark. I am very pleased with the service so far and highly recommend it.

Kristine, I would let them make your ADRs for you. I always stress that they will forget to or something, but they have always come through for me, no problems. The have gotten us CRT, Illuminations cruises, the princess tea, you name it. As far as slowing down a bit, that's a tough one, isn't it? I am trying to find a happy medium myself. The hard part of the tours is that they don't allow young children on most of them. We did, however, do one tour you might enjoy. The Wildlife Discovery Tour in Animal Kingdom. It is open only to concierge guests and it is a lot of fun and they do allow kids. There is also the Family Magic Tour in the Magic Kingdom. We are trying the Princess Tea Party in the Grand Floridian, the Pirate Cruise and the surfing lessons at Typhone Lagoon this trip. (Each child is getting a special treat, one the tea, one the cruise, one surfing). A fireworks cruise is also a nice change of pace from watching them in the parks. Good luck!

I am trying to finish up the details of our upcoming trip in December so I sent an email to Poly IPO for town car services, an additional adr, and a copy of our itinerary to be sent to me. This was on the 13th - no answer back yet! How long should I wait before I email them back? Don't want to seem like I'm pestering them...............but the waiting for a reply is frustrating!!!!

The weekend may have been busy. But, if you dont hear back by tonight just resend your request.

SeaSpray just started a new thread about the slow communications with Poly IPO lately, I think they must be trying to catch up now that the rehab is done.

I sent some adrs on the 6th and got a reply back on the 7th. But then I realized I had forgotten one adr so I sent another email on the 8th. Never heard back that time until the 14th! I think it all depends on how busy they are on any particular day!

But they did get us all the adrs we requested! We check in next Sunday! Can't wait.

Didn't see that - thanks!! Glad to know I'm not the only one!!! :sunny:

Re the concierge delays - I only got a response when I emailed the personal account of the guest relations rep who had been helping us. To be fair she was extremely apologetic and promptly made the arrangements I requested. I suspect they have been busy !

Hi, everyone! I apologize for being AWOL, but the day after I got back from vacation, I had to start an online class on Macromedia Flash for my job, and unfortunately, all the work I do for it must be done on my own time. (Don't ask me to get into why a class for work must be done on my own time...) The first week alone I had to read 200 pages!!

I've written up my entire trip report (oh my, I got a little wordy! :rotfl: ), but I still need to attach pictures to it. I'm hoping to get that done by next week, but in the meantime, I did finish my report on the Sugar Loaf, which is "alternate" concierge building at the Grand Floridian. DH, DS3 and I had a WONDERFUL time, and I'm very excited to share my pictures and short report with you all. I hope someone finds it useful in deciding on whether or not to give the SL a try.

I took TONS of pictures, and had a hard time narrowing it down. I think I think I have a pretty good representation on my page, but if anyone has a specific question, or wants to know if I have a specific shot of something, please email or PM me--I probably do!

The Sugar Loaf report is on a single page with most of the pictures in table cells. (There are also a few "pop up" pictures that will appear when you click on the link.) Note that MOST of the pictures in the tables have ROLLOVER images--ie, if you roll your mouse over the picture, you'll see a different one. (I did that to keep the page from scrolling to infinity and beyond!) If a picture does NOT have a rollover, I've stated so in the caption. Please be patient when the page first loads, as it will need to load all the pictures, too.

I hope I gave a good representation of the Sugar Loaf. Again, if you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be happy to answer them. My full trip report will be posted hopefully in another week or so.

Here it is:

Darn it! No matter how much I double check, I always miss something. In the second set of pictures, there is a vertical picture of the door to the balcony in our room, taken so that you can see the vaulted ceilings. That picture is mislabeled as the table/chairs and dresser/TV combination. Oops! I also just realized I forgot to put up the pictures of room 6201, which Mousekeeper Mary graciously let me visit and take pictures (6201 is a standard room, not a dormer room as we had; it had a normal balcony and a marina view). I will get those pictures up tonight. Sorry!!

Otherwise, hope you enjoy! I can honestly say that just looking at these pictures this morning made we wish I was back there!!! <sigh>

Hugs to all!

Steph: What a beautiful photo-report. Thank you so much!
:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Wow Steph! EXCELLENT web page! You got lots of great shots of the rooms, food offerings, etc :flower: I had no idea that the Sugar Loaf offerings were so extensive! Everything looked wonderful! :sunny: Thanks for sharing your experience, pictures, and web page with us!

Steph,

Thanks so much for the wonderful pix and descriptions of Sugar Loaf! Glad you enjoyed it so much. We are staying Main Building in December and you have gotten me very excited for the food offerings! We may have to try SL for Spring Break after reading your report! :flower:

Good news!! They must be catching up on all their emails - Jeffrey emailed me back and all is right with the world again!!! :sunny:

Now if I could just get my email to work so I can send him a message back-grrrrrrr :confused3 I swear, if it ain't one thing... it's another

Steph - Great pictures and a great report!

For those of you who have stayed in other concierge rooms, are those food offerings similar to what they have at the Poly or the CR? Just curious.

Thanks!

Steph, that was a fabulous webpage!!! Loved the report with all the pictures! I hope you don't mind my sharing that with my sister. Now I cannot wait for our trip to the Poly CL in March!!!

Please do! Not sure if the Poly will have similiar offerings, but I imagine they don't vary a WHOLE lot.

Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments!
